Is this seriously gonna happen?
It appears so.

"Sources told the NYT (New York Times) that UFC 249 is planned to be held at the Tachi Palace Casino Resort in Lenmore, CA, which is located near Fresno. The casino is located on land belonging to the Tachi-Yokut Tribe, which is part of the Santa Rosa Indian Community. The casino closed on March 20 due to the virus, and neither the casino nor the UFC responded to the NYT’s request for comment."

Unsanctioned fights again. What could go wrong?

Any talk if they're letting spectators in? If an event take palaces I'll most likely be watching but FFS, talk about risk/reward for everyone involved. With no sports going on they're probably banking on the world tuning into to watch this craziness unfold.

Sounds like zero spectators. There's a couple of heated debates in other threads about whether this event should happen.
I'm in the bad idea camp.

I think you're right that no competition would make for more viewers but my earlier post shows a benefit for healthcare workers featuring some popular names has been announced on the same night which will probably hurt UFC.
Free benefit on most major channels vs $60 MMA ppv?
