Michel Pereira - MMA: JUL 09 UFC 264 Ceremonial Weigh-In

At tonight’s UFC 264 the UFC has decided to increase their Fight of the Night and Performance of the Night bonuses from $50,000 to $75,000. Which is nice, considering the promotion just announced a $175 million deal with the company that will be plastered on the fighter’s walkout gear tonight. Fighters don’t get a direct cut of that, by the way.

The first to announce that the bonuses had been increased was Sean O’Malley, who fights Kris Moutinho on the main card. The increase was later confirmed by ESPN.

75k bonuses tomorrow night. Thanks

— Sean O'Malley (@SugaSeanMMA) July 10, 2021
This is the second time the UFC has increased their bonuses. The first time was at UFC 262 in May on the request of Tony Ferguson. Charles Oliveira (who beat Ferguson) and Christos Giagos reaped that benefit by clinching Performance of the Night awards. Edson Barboza and Shane Burgos scooped fight of the night. That increase was just temporary with the bonuses reverting back to $50,000 for the events that have followed.

Among the fighters familiar with fight night bonuses on the card are headliners Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier. McGregor has won POTN seven times and FOTN twice. Poirier has won POTN four times and FOTN seven times.

Co-main event-er Stephen Thompson has seven fight night bonuses on his record. His opponent Gilbert Burns has four. O’Malley has one FOTN award and three POTN awards.

On the under card Michel Pereira meets Niko Price are booked in a fight that seems destined for a FOTN award.

You can see who scoops these bumper bonuses tonight. The action starts at 6 PM ET on ESPN+.

Talked to Dana last night via text and he said that this bump in the bonus money is unlikely to continue and it kills his budget for bonuses.

Did you talk wigs?
not last night, that was wednesday night.

he also asked me about trolls on Wed. i told him we have a dreg who posts an average of 75 times per thread when he's online and still has only a little above 27,000 posts. He responded "Lol, what a loser, those guys over there must run that site right!"

I really wonder who was more ruthless & selfish Zuffa or WME/Endeavor?
WME will be more ruthless as you get zero access to their "brass" and they are running this like a corporate business.

though everyone feared lorenzo and his family for their ability to do pretty much what they need to do.

"Fighters don’t get a direct cut of that, by the way"

Translation:
Fighters don't get ANY cut of yet another advertiser plastered
all over their "uniforms". Also I've never seen a contractor be made to wear someone's
uniform other then the contractors own chosen uniform.

Egg also stated that the 75K was not a permanent increase cuz it would mess up their "budget"

The good news is we can all now tip the figters out our own pockets to make up the UFC pay fuckery. LOL

The Jake Paul's exist because of the tight wads in the ufc. How can you justify 20+ million dollar contracts to baseball players and only offer 25 grand to two guys basically trying to beat the bejesus out of each other? A viral highlight ko is worth a helluva lot more to the ufc than 25 grand. Yes, it also helps the career of the fighter, but they are putting their ass out there doing high-risk maneuvers.
