"The top-ranked pound-for-pound fighter in the world, UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, has been a puzzle that 22 fighters haven’t been able to figure out. If there are holes in his game, no one has been able to exploit them.

Jones faces his toughest challenge to date, top contender Anthony “Rumble” Johnson, at UFC 187 on May 23 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. There’s one thing that Johnson brings to the table that Jones admits that he doesn’t have....."

IMO, fact is you don't necessarily need punching power when you never know what he's going to throw at you and he can drop an elbow on someone from 10 feet away

I used to say that with everyone he faced too, but after I saw what Rumble did to Gus I was like :confused:o_O
I hope you're right. I'm not giving Rumble much of a chance. But then again, I thought Gus would take him out too. In my opinion, Gus is still the one who poses the most threat to JBJ. I wish he would've got an immediate rematch after the first fight!

I was so sure that DC was going to win that the wife and I flew down to watch live. Now I need AJ to beat him down for making me spend all that money.

The difference is he can do what he wants, ie elbow to rashad (or, hashad) or yank someone's shoulder out of joint like Glover or simply punish you like stephan or dc. The man has a lot of weapons and with his team, like it or not, will come up with different ways of punishing you without "punching power", so to speak.

A big intangible in this fight is that Jon Jones will have been training for longer than just his fight camp for the first time. It is crazy to think he would just show up for fight camps before. Every fight he has shown something new, whether it was a new technique or area of his game, win or lose Rumble is going to be in the fight of his life.

Well about time JBJ finally admitted to something that is the truth.

I'd love to see Rumble win this, but I've learned not to bet against Jones. He has so many tools that crazy punching power isn't really needed.

the only way i see jones winning is by a sub. we'll see what happens when he gets hit by the power puncher of the lhw division. i think you'll be surprised.

I know it only takes one from a beast like Rumble, but I think Jones uses his reach to his advantage and stays out of trouble. Rumble will try to walk him down, but have little/no luck and will get his ass kicked like the others. This will not go to a decision, but that's because Jones will finish him.

Believe me, I'm not a Jones nuthugger. There are several other people I would rather see with the LHW belt, but he is a monster. If he can keep his face out of the powder and never get caught with PED's, he may (I said may) eventually take over as the GOAT.

rumble has a bigger reach than gus, so he will land.
I hope you're right. I would argue that Gus is able to close the distance faster because of his style. Rumble can definitely pressure guys and get them going backwards and have them shit their pants, but I think Gus being on his toes, bouncing around, and being 10 feet tall makes him able to close the distance faster and land shots that Rumble will not. Gus just doesn't have Rumble's ability to turn the lights off.
