The cowboy vs cowboy angle is about the only thing that is noteworthy about this card. Pushing it does make sense.

One thing they might have considered though is dressing up the combatants in the local cowboy costumes of their particular regions, Cerrone being a typical west coast buckaroo if I'm not mistaken, and of course Oliveira is a gaucho.

The old Byrds album Sweetheart of the Rodeo had some really cool illustrations of cowboys in their various regional costumes:
