Mick Maynard has been hired by the UFC as its new vice president of talent relations and matchmaker.
After weeks of rumblings, it’s official: the UFC has hired Mick Maynard as its new matchmaker, following the news of Joe Silva’s departure.
UFC officials confirmed the hiring Tuesday afternoon, following an initial report from FloSports’ Jeremy Botter.
Maynard will be the UFC Vice President of Talent Relations, Sean Shelby’s old role. Shelby has been promoted to Silva’s position of Senior Vice President of Talent Relations, as Silva is retiring at the end of 2016.
Together, the two matchmakers will organize UFC bouts, develop athletes on the roster and scout potential talent, according to a press release.
