Event PPV's. (Click for a bigger version: http://i.imgur.com/bgigwHt.jpg )

Total and Average PPV's per Year. (Click for bigger version: http://i.imgur.com/7G6Rq6F.jpg )

These are generally accepted to be solid, confirmed numbers. The numbers for UFC's 183-185 are not yet accepted to be solid. Once they are, I can update the graph... or I could make a graph with those numbers included if you guys want it.

Interestingly it seems that even numbered UFC events do better on average...

Excellent post there Calavaro @Calavaro thanks for that. I love any stats or graphs that make it easy to prove or disprove statements made that seem suspect.

I just ran the numbers for even vs. odd numbered events...

Even numbered events (71 events. The early events are not counted since no data)
Total PPV's: 30,769,000 buys
Average per PPV: 433,366 buys

Odd numbered events (72 events. The early events are not counted since no data)
Total PPV's: 27,094,000 buys
Average per PPV: 376,306

So the numbers confirm it... Even numbered events do on average 15% higher per event. That's significant.

Tito Ortiz always claimed he was carrying the UFC in the early days... lets find out if it was true.

Between 2001 and 2006 Tito Ortiz headlined 9 UFC events.
These events drew a total of 2,769,000 PPV buys.
An average of 307,667 PPV per event.
The rest of the PPV events from 2001 to the end of 2006 drew a combined total of 4,614,000.
The average was 184,560 PPV buys.
That means Tito Ortiz did 66.7% better than the average PPV for this time period... Massive!

If we remove 2006, which was the breakout year for the UFC, from the calculation and only include 2001-2005, what happens?

Tito total: 519,000 buys
Tito avg: 86,500 buys
other UFC total: 1,594,000 buys
other UFC avg. 88,556 buys

Hmm... Looks like Titos success came at the same time as the UFC had its breakout year. Did the UFC drive the success or did Tito? Let's look at 2006 by itself.

Tito total: 2,250,000 buys
Tito avg: 750,000 buys
other UFC total: 3,020,000 buys
other UFC avg: 431,429 buys

Holy fuckballs. In 3 events Tito drew nearly as many PPV buys as the other 7 UFC events combined that year.
Tito drew on average 73.8% more PPV buys per event than the rest of them.
