Israel Adesanya, Nigerian born-New Zealander, Glory kickboxer. Looks from his record like he was fighting in Glory and taking MMA fights during the same time period. He had four mma matches in 2016 (4-0), and eight kickboxing matches (7-1). 2017, two Glory losses, and two mma wins. All mma wins by TKO or KO, 11-0.

regular john @regular john any thoughts to share?

Great thread.

Adesanya is one of the best 185 pounds kickboxers in the world but consider that that division is ridiculously thin. Still, he is pretty good offensively, has good footwork and has a slick style that could have him running circles around most striking based mma fighters. His stance, footwork and movement actually looks a lot like mma-style and could be a good fit to takedown defense. Among his record that can be verified he has only ever lost to elite MW kickboxers but he hasn't fought since getting KTFO by Glory MW champion Alex Pereira almost an year ago. He had two MMA fights in that period (beat Melvin Guillard) so he's probably dedicated to that now. He's also had a few boxing fights some time ago.

His defense is bad though and having started in kickboxing and boxing, I doubt he has ever had any kind of comprehensive grappling training. I don't know his opponent but I guess if he has a shred of wrestling he will take Adesanya down and smother him rather easily.

HAKEEM DAWODU - WSOF vet. 7-0-1 (draw), and he got the draw back with a tko in the rematch. 6 fights finished with ko or tko, no subs, primarily a striker. Just moved to Ireland to start training with SBG for this fight.

Last fight (decision win against Steven Siler, March 2017):

SCADA @SCADA you seem to know about Hakeem. Any thoughts how he will do against Henry, who on paper seems to be more well-rounded?

Hell yeah, he's one of my son's Muay Thai coaches.

His striking is really crisp, great speed and a move forward mentality if he gets clipped. Vicious elbows, and outstanding clinch work. He has progressed in his MMA fights from striking only to beating a russian looking to wrestle-fuk him. His last win was the video above. He looked pretty good against a guy with that much experience. He should be able to get a late knockout in his debut if he can capitalize on his speed. This is his first full fight camp away from Calgary. Originally he was set to head down to Jackson/Wink, but then his fight was scheduled for London, so he though SGB would be better and he will be more than amalgamated to the area.

I'm excited to see what he can do.
