General Video editing

I own a gopro. Trying to use it more and get my brain going a bit rather than just wasting my life.

The gopro editing software is not only incredibly resource hungry it is almost impossible to use as an actual decent editing suite.

Anyone got any ideas for good free to use suites to put together montages? I take footage through the day then like to splice it together in funky vids. Mostly for social media and just fun.

My laptop is a HP probook i5 2.5Ghz (3.1Ghz turbo), 16GB RAM, SSD, Wanky screen (but I have a better monitor). Is it just too shit to handle the vid editing? Or is there anything I can do?

As Mr Shart has already pointed out today, I am in a weird fucking mood. If this is a shitthread dump it.

Yea the open source video editor I have uses Blender as its 3D builder for titles and transitions. It is good but my laptop is not suitable. Have to dust the desktop off I thik

Your laptop should be fine for basic video editing with 16gb ram. If you use torrents, EVERYTHING is free to use. Download a copy of Adobe Premiere, it's pretty user friendly and won't take long to pick up.
