FINGERS @Fingers @Coast IschKabibble @IschKabibble @PaleAndGangly La Paix @Nuk Soo Kow shall we have a meetup in Horizon Worlds or VRChat? So far the coolest social space I've been to is Chillout VR but it's on Steam.
Fuck ya. My kids are finally back to school and I’m waiting for new employer to get me started. I got time to dive in, I haven’t even started the headset on yet. Would it be weird to watch VR porn knowing that once my son gets home he’ll be using it for gorilla tag?

Not if you keep the goods on your PC and use Steam.

Y'all look at the bundles. Which one?

Just get the 299 one. It's has everything you need.

My only add on has been to spend a few quid on a better face guard. It has a special silicone foam that stops the sweat getting in your eyes during the extra hard wanking sessions.

I was tempted to get a table tennis racket extension too.

What you need most is the elite head strap. The stock is trash. I also recommend a 16 ft usb c cord, but you can do things over wifi using a virtual desktop also.
Got it!
I'm a little confused. Quite frankly, I don't know how all of this works because I haven't been paying attention to the space at all.

Headsets basically just a controller? Needs to be talking to a computer to get out to the web?
While on earth does have 128 gigs of memory then?

No need for cord IMO. At least not yet.

What are the benefits of an Oculus Quest 2 to PC cable?
Like its predecessor, the Oculus Quest 2 is predominately designed to be used as a standalone headset, with no need at all for external processing or tracking. That doesn't mean it can't benefit from the former, though.

By using a high-quality, active USB-C connection you can turn your Oculus Quest 2 into a PC spec VR headset, which, if you have the right CPU and graphics card for the job, unlocks amazing performance potential. That can lead to more consistent frame rates in the kinds of games you already play, as well as support for higher detail settings.

It also gives you access to an even more expansive game library. There are hundreds of PC exclusive VR games that were originally designed for the Oculus Rift. Many of those can be played on the Oculus Quest 2 if you connect it to your PC. That makes using an Oculus Quest 2 cable the ideal way to appreciate the full capabilities of your new VR headset, and enjoy a greater array of games than ever before.

These other guys answered well, but it's all a standalone system. You only need a cord if you want to trick it out and even then, not really. I got bored with the baseline oculus experience in a week and started tweaking. There are more games and experiences in Steam, more porn on the web or in PC apps. You can have a standalone experience though over strong wifi using the in built Oculus Link (over wifi or a cable). It depends what kind of intensive stuff you end up doing. I really liked the Half Life franchise so I use a cable to play Half Life Alyx just to reduce any risk of latency. Plus as you saw in my Fapout thread, attention to detail matters ?

Its like having a PS 4 and saying you want to purchase a lead so you can play the PS2 version of Crash Bandicoot on it.

Why would you want to?

Steam has plenty of their own exclusives.

Splinty @Splinty, I'd highly recommend Space Pirate Trainer (it's on Oculus store too). Fun game to just pick up and play, and a great demo of what to expect with VR.
