A light heavyweight showdown between Volkan Oezdemir and Anthony Smith will headline the first ever UFC card in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada on Oct. 27.

UFC officials announced the matchup on Thursday.

For Oezdemir, this will end up being his first fight since losing to light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier back in January at UFC 220. Oezdemir was scheduled for several fights after that bout but legal issues that kept him from traveling outside the United States and an injury to Alexander Gustafsson kept him from competing until now....

Is Volkan allowed out of the US? What happened with his trial anyone know? Does he have his work visa for Canada?

"Thankfully, Oezdemir was cleared of all charges in a battery case in Florida and now he’s ready to resume his career with his next fight taking place in Canada."

in the eggs mind canada loves mma so lets do shows in moncton and saskatoon. they need to stick to montreal ,toronto,vancouver and calgary

Maybe my town of 18,000 will get a fight night next year! They can hold it at the key city theatre, it holds like 500 people. Or they can set up the octagon behind my store and fight like the drunk Indians do.

looks like moncton just spent 100 million dollars on a 8800 seat hockey arena that opens in september. thats a lot of money for a junior hockey arena. ours seats 6800 and cost 24 mil

well that's one heck of a new rink!! Wildcats get good support. Not much else to do there anyway

Plus if they can host bigger events like this then it will get paid

I think Smith could take this
confidence is everything and he is hot and quite fluid with his strikes
bout a 50/50 IMO...I might be giving volkan to much cred

I’ve only seen volkov fight twice......I think his nut huggers are very wrong
