It isn’t that complicated. It’s been around for a really long time. Once you understand the concept, it’s all repeatable patterns.

Well it's like anything: you can pick up a guitar and in a week maybe you can play the Smoke on the Water riff. But it takes years to master - same with binary code.

It doesn’t. I was happy to see my 14 year old son come home with it for homework. That was a horrible analogy. If it takes a lifetime to master, your making it much more difficult than it has to be. Binary coded decimal is the most basic of functions when it comes to programming.

Your son came home with some Math and English homework too, doesn't mean he's a Mathematician or an English professor.

Jesus dude, think before you post.

Does this have anything to do with making an app?

I recently came up with what I think is a solid idea for an app (not willing to divulge at this stage) but I have no fucking idea about anything about technology besides using MS word and browsing the net.

You totally put that 23rd '1' in the wrong location.

The real excitement with binary code now is in relation to 3D printers. Before, binary code was used on internet things like websites and applications (i.e. intangible things).

But with the advent of 3D printers, what was once confined in a screen can now become a real tangible asset, and in that way binary code is starting to literally infiltrate our real life.
