I used to love wedding receptions when I drank because it gave me a free pass to down vodka mindlessly for an entire day (pregame, reception, after-party).
Since I’ve quit, I’ve attended a couple and I enjoyed the ceremonies much more than the receptions. It wasn’t that I missed drinking or couldn’t have fun without it, it’s just thatthe music is so loud, it’s impossible to hold a conversation without screaming into someone’s ear, and wasted people are a lot less tolerable now.
Fortunately the bulk of our family and friends are married now so we are down to attending only 1-2/yr.
