The UFC 199 main event has taken a hit.

Chris Weidman, who was scheduled to fight Luke Rockhold for the middleweight title, has been forced to withdraw from the card due to an injury, MMA Fighting has confirmed. As of Tuesday afternoon, the promotion is still looking for a replacement to fight Rockhold on a little more than two weeks' notice.

Talk MMA first tweeted the possibility of the news.

On the current shortlist to replace Weidman: Ronaldo Souza, who just defeated Vitor Belfort this past weekend, and Michael Bisping. No decision has been made just yet. Bisping tweeted that he would take the fight if officially offered.

Too bad if true and I hope it's nothing major. I'd be more than fine of Jacre got his shot over a rematch that was booked too soon imo.

I don't trust anything reported in the news. But I trust everything reported by a random guy called #Dizz.

Oh gosh, we had to hear from pillow fists, didn't we? Crying from laughing so hard....seriously.

Mike, you're not relevant unless the legit players are injured.......

No comment from his camp yet, but there is a growing collection of voices saying it is true Chris is out

I'm honestly not sure I care all that much.

I like Luke, as long as he's still in, that's fine.

With guys like Weidman you can just throw enough injury rumor shit at the wall and chances are some of it will stick anyway.

Lordofthepies can confirm that Cain Velasquez is out of his fight with Travis Rousey. Now, I simply wait to be declared Nostradamus of teh interwebs.

good. that rematch didn't make no sense at all anyway.

Bisping's gotta be kidding though. Luke bullied and toyed with him already.

Weird thing to be focusing on instead of the actual thing that matters: Weidman appears to be out

I would like to preface this by saying that in a perfect world I would love to see Jacare fighting for that title.

It has to be Bisping. Jacare is under a 14 day medical suspension with no contact for 7 days. Romero (I think) is still suspended. Anderson's gallbladder decided to explode. I know some of you don't like him, but he will probably lose and then go back to gatekeeper status anyway.

I guess they could make the Tim Kennedy fight but that would be even less deserving than Woodley.

Sucks, but I'd love to see Jacare vs Rockhold II for the title. Would be a good fight.

I would also like to see Bisping get the title shot already so he can stop crying about it and retire... kidding! (not really)

Weird thing to be focusing on me focusing on something instead of the actual thing that matters. Don't worry buttercup, I was about to deliver some of my patented cutting insight on the issue, so you don't have to be so impatient.

If true, as multiple sources seem to indicate now, obviously Jacare and Romero are preferable but both seem problematic to make with this short notice. Robert Whitaker is the next best option. 5-fight win streak, shouldn't have too much trouble making weight, presents somewhat of a challenge simply due to KO power.
