Problem here is he will be going against some big so and so's.....

Johnson, gus, Manuwa, glover, even Bader are all problematic.......not to mention osp and now Corey Anderson...

He may need to fight Villante to gain entry......

It's 20 lbs, so no doubt it is significant... but there's been successful 205ers that were naturally 185. Henderson, wand, vitor. rashad held the title at 205 and can now make 185, which means he probably could have sooner as well. Anderson was unbeaten at 205. I think if we see weidman at lhw, he'll fit right in.

I just think back to when he was thinking of fighting Jones and I just don't see anything good for weedman

Yea, but you can say that about anyone in the division, really. It's jones. There are winnable fights for weidman at 205. And who knows about weidman, he just may have what it takes for jones. No one saw him knocking Silva out cold. Never know with that guy

I think it's a good move. He's 6'3", so height-wise he's on the taller side. Question is, can he fill out his frame without losing any cardio/flexibility? I'm sure he has access to the best nutritionists/strength and conditioning coaches, so I say yes.

That was with steroids though, now they have to be more discrete about it

We'll see what happens, but I can't think of a better candidate to make the jump. He's got a large frame
Yeah he cut a lot of weight, and should be a lot faster at LHW. I think him and Franky should do some training.. I could see him do well with a style like that.

Yea. He was lean at 185. He looked good and more suited for 205 because he was lean and sucked out from the cut, while the other guys I mentioned were all muscled up and had needles still hanging from their asses at 185. They were bulky at 185.... just bulkier at 205. With weidman being that lean at 185, he could put on some quality, functional mass and may be enhanced by it instead of incapable of wiping his own ass like the others.

I think he fits well at LHW and that division is weak. He has an agressive style and is one of the most athletic guys at that size in mma.

he may have a big confidence problem to fix though, he looks like the big, athletic bully guy who never in his life even considered getting ktfo cold and losing two in a row in big fashion.

Weidman could easily compete at LHW in terms of size, that's not the issue.

The issue is that he has suffered career-changing stoppages consecutively, has semed not as sharp in the USADA era and will be exposing himself to guys with even more power.

One thing is for certain, if I were his coaches I'd be telling him that a LHW run is fine, but avoid fighting Rumble like the plague.

I used to think Weidman could challenge for GOAT but post-USADA and post consecutive destructions, I think he is heading for the cliff.

We will never see until we see him fight at 205 . I think he will get destroyed at 185

I'd pay to see Jon The Goat Jones destroy the jersey boy. Hopefully Jones would urinate on his unconcious ediface.

I think he's a bit slow for 185...his speed might look better at 205. And he's pretty much the same size as Villante.

I say go for it. But stay away from JBJ....

Lucky punch with Silvia clowning him. He probably didn't deserve the first title fight with 8 pro fights or whatever it was. He was on his way to being another humiliated victim of the GOAT before he landed a Hail Mary. To be fair, he was dominating Silvia in the 2nd fight before Silvia's leg fell off. Point is, I have never really been as high on him as most people are. I don't think he regains the MW belt unless he gets lucky enough to fight Bisping. I don't think he beats many, if any, of the top tier LHW.

from the list above, id say his skills are on par, if not slightly better everywhere than bader who is #4 right now.

I hope going up in weight to rebound after a loss becomes more widespread. So many fights aren't that interesting these days, good to see really high level guys test themselves against bigger men.

Great for a fighters image too. Gastelum beat a fighter that gassed after two minutes and people are taking him up as a serious contender at MW. Not to take anything away from Kevin either, was a great moment.

he hangs with every one of them outside of dc, rumble and jones. i actually think dc vs weidman would be a good match up.
Both Manuwa and st prieux would crack his ribs and possibly seriously injure him

I'm not sure why I'm the one defending weidman. I've never cared for him as a fighter, but I just don't see counting guys out coming off a loss (in this case 2). He looked good against Romero until that knee.
