Now of course it depends on what I'm eating, but if I am drinking for the sake of drinking, my go to is usually Oregonian Pinot Noirs. Anything from the Russian River valley, Columbia River Valley or the Willamette (It rhymes with Damn It, don't be a wine noob) Valley all sit well with me for casual consumption.

And I also like Salmon. Nature generally provides good combinations. Salmon from the northwest, wine from the northwest, it just works.

I've been buying these because I think the bottles are cool:

I came here to say this. These labels suckered me, but both the cab and their dark red are damn delicious.
Yeah, they got me the first time with their labels. But the wine is actually pretty good.

$20. Might catch it on sale for under $15.

Also picked up a couple bottles of their merlot cuz it's on sale for $12. Usually $20.

I too am a sucker for cool labels. If the product is good, that's just a bonus. That's what got me hooked on Xingu Brazilian Black Beer, there was a poster that said 'Explore the heart of darkness'.

That poster mysteriously disappeared from the liquor store the next day.

There is no crime in ordering merlot.

But when you pronounce it Mir Lot, and ask for a glass of ice on the side, it's totally justifiable for your server to kill you.

Sorry for all the Sideways GIFs, but I've been to a few wine tastings and I always laugh at the people who really get into it. Smelling the wine for like 2 minutes, swishing it around their mouth, talking about the acidic qualities of the dirt that they can taste in the wine.

Me? I'm like the guy on the left. Clang! Pretty good. What else you got?

I don't know why the dude in the movie hated Merlot. I just always thought it was a funny line.

It has its moments, but it's more of a serious movie than it is a comedy. Two mid-life crisis guys who have very little in common take a road trip to wine country in California. It's very well acted and worth a watch, but don't go into it thinking you're going to be rolling on the floor from laughter.

That's filmed up near where I live. One of the vineyards in Paso is called zin alley. I'm not much of a wine person but thier stuff is good.

And the guy also makes the best port in the world. In my opinion
