After Daniel Cormier’s UFC 210 win over Anthony Johnson in April, Dana Whiterepeatedly said “DC” vs. Jon Jones would not headline a card, but instead serve as an evening’s co-main event. He said he couldn’t trust “Bones,” who has fallen out of several high-profile bouts over the years for different reasons.

Just over a month later, Cormier vs. Jones 2 was announced Friday at the Summer Kickoff press conference in Dallas ahead of UFC 211. And hours after the announcement, the UFC president confirmed the 205-pound title fight would indeed headline UFC 214 in July, per FOX Sports’ Andy Nesbitt.

Interestingly, light heavyweight contender Jimi Manuwa will also be on the card, White reportedly said, in case anything happens to either Cormier or Jones.

Ya ever think Lorenzo told WME how great it is to have Dana be the primary lightning rod of hate?

Or ya think Dana is the Vince Russo equivalent, and Lorenzo was the one to tell Dana how you're supposed to act in public. Because since they left, this man has been off the rails with the wtf

Jon Jones isn’t eligible to return to mixed martial arts (MMA) for another three months, which is when his one-year suspension for a failed drug test will be up. Once he does return to action, “Bones” is likely to face current Light Heavyweight champion, Daniel Cormier, in his first bout back.

If and when the fight does happen, don’t expect it to be the main event, as company president Dana White reiterated his stance of not allowing “Bones” to headline an event due to his past transgressions.

In response, “Bones” stated he’d do business with new UFC owner, Ari Emmanuel, not Dana. But, it seems White is still calling the shots, and despite Jon’s relationship with he new UFC higher-ups, he won’t be headlining a card for the promotion anytime soon.

Dana has his money, imf doesn't. They will do whatever they can to make as much as they can and this fight had to be a headliner.

I can't see it going any differently than the first fight..........
Dc will not ko him, will not submit him and will not be able to handle the later rounds.
On the other side of things, jones may submit him as he grappled a lot more during his time off.

Times is hard for Dana, bruh. Starting to come to the realization that without Ronda or Conor or Brock, you really don't have many ways to lure the casual fan right now.

the way things have been going under WME, I'm a bit surprised it isn't co-main behind VanZant-Magana or something like that

What about ring rust for Jones? Not having competed for so long could take something off of him during the later rounds.

I wonder what the co-main event will be for this card.

No real fan of MMA wants casuals around anyways. The jerk offs in the bar that think they could beat most guys in their weight class and are more than happy to tell you so when filled with liquid courage, but overflowing with ignorance and stupidity. MMA in general, the UFC in particular has enough fans. Fuck the randos.
