When MMA made it out of the dark ages, when the sport wasn't even allowed on pay-per-view, it was fighters like Tito Ortiz who helped bring a new wave of fans and he benefited by becoming one of the faces of the UFC as well as one of the highest-paid athletes in the sport.

Ortiz hasn't fought in the UFC in a few years, but his wealth hasn't diminished apparently, because the former light heavyweight champion and UFC Hall of Famer just bought tickets for the Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao boxing match for over a quarter of a million dollars.

$257,410.50 to be exact.

Ortiz posted a picture of his ticket purchase via Stubhub.com while expressing his excitment about attending the bout taking place next weekend in Las Vegas.

Sure seems like Fox Sports fucked this story up. The caption under the stub indicates he didn't buy the tickets.

Tito is worth $15 million

This is really no different than when average people drop a few grand to do something.

looks like sgotwalks is right though.

"
(COME ON PPL!!!!!! You have too be one dumb MF to buy these tickets!!!!) nice to see the haters and how fast it got picked up. Never in a million years!"

It would take the average Joe years to make that kind of money. Hell maybe even a decade. That's admission for row ten at this extravaganza. What a country.

If I was a wealthy oil tycoon or something.................I would be sitting near the ring for this fight, and all of the big fights, and the good fights, and the meh fights, and the shitty fights................dammit, I'm not living the life I'm supposed to be living!

I'd buy a jetpack and hover right above the fighters, occasionally coasting in to snap selfies. Kinda like Fanman from that Holyfield fight years ago, upgraded billionaire version.

Doesn't make a ton of sense for Tito to do this unless he wants to be seen. Hence the screencap, I guess. Maybe its serving one purpose but this doesn't add a lot to his legacy or his future finances.

I would be lying if I said I wouldn't do the same. Not the 250k tix though. Like the 10g upper deck ones (if I was a rich asshole, I mean). Tito has made decent money outside of the UFC but IDK. This seems stupid.

But seriously, 250k for 2 tickets to a fight. What the fuck is that? BUT, he can do it, and he did. So I can't hate the guy. Just one of those purchases that make you think exactly what Brian implied
