Someone explain this to me?
WME shitting the bed again?
Ufc loves rematches?
The ufc sees marketability in neck tats.
Because rankings and championship belts mean jack shit these days.
Entertainment first, integrity of the sport second seems to be the thought at WME.
I have been so heated about this. Anyone, ANYONE, who is clean KO’d, no matter how long they have been champ (Anderson, Joanna, etc) should have to earn their ay back to a title shot. Split decision, sure. Close decision, maybe. But KO/TKO.. no f’ing way! There are too many fighters in any given division who have worked for years to be next in line. They deserve their shot and dethroned champs should earn their way back up. Cody has zero justification for a title shot. Assuncao,Cruz, and Rivera (prior to last week) all deserved it over Cody “da boyyzzzz” Garbrandt.
They do so much now. But why though?
Long term, it makes no sense.
Cuz Mighty Mouse scared
Hopefully Garbrandt can get someone new to show
"everyone how to do it on Team Alpha Male"
Laziness, all things considered. Its funny because its sort of has become Bellator’s old format. If the winner of the tournament beats the champ in a nontitle match, they get the title shot.
Its essentially the same thing with all these rematches, but more to the point.
WME and UFC as a whole has always been about that entertainment, bring more eyes to the product kind of show. Minimal legitimacy here and there, but eyeballs are more important. With BW, Dillashaw vs Cody is the front runner.
Only valid rematches I can think of is Edgar vs Penn 2 (maybe) and Machida vs Shogun 2(Most certainly) Other than that, nothing sticks out.
They love close fights turning into rematches, despite competitive matches should just being that, competitive. Competitive does not always mean controversial.
cuz drama sells?
but there really is no drama in that division,
even TJ looks all drama free
Well son of a bitch
Neck tats are the new black
Mainly I guess because MM bitched out of the potential fight with TJ and they had no one else.
But yeah Cody is not "immediate rematch" material imo
I think Cody could beat TJ though. He had him very hurt at the end of R1.
I'm picking TJ to win the rematch but it wouldn't completely shock me if Cody won.
This is exactly it......
I do t think he deserves an immediate rematch as tj lost a razor close decision to Dominic Cruz and then had to fight his way back into the title fight
Sigh... Too many mouth breathing morons watch mma
I agree, so you go watch something else so we can thin the herd.
Why would I go watch something else?
You presented a problem, I presented a viable solution. Try to keep up.
I'll take Cody in that rematch....cause fuk TJ.
TJ was willing to fight at 125, mighty mouse literally didn't have to do anything different then he does in preparing for a title fight
But he sure found a lot of reasons to make that fight not happen... When everyone but him wanted to see it.
Is there definitive proof he can make 125?
Disagree. A clean KO is just a way to lose a fight. It doesn't mean anything more than a submission, a ref stoppage or a decision. It just means you did something wrong and your opponent did something right. There's nothing especially magical about knocking someone out or getting knocked out despite the sense of definitiveness it has in fan eyes.
In my view, any champion who has defended their belt at least twice deserves an immediate rematch clause in their contract. The fact that Cody didn't is the real reason he doesn't deserve an immediate rematch.
