I for one think it's the other way around.
Is Khabib a great grappler? No doubt. But is he going to get Conor down? Highly unlikely. He doesn't have wrestling-style takedowns like Chad Mendes (who Conor didn't worry about getting taken down by bc he knew Chad would gas).
What was his first takedown of Iaquinta? A desperate grab for the ankle that he only barely got. HE WON'T GET THAT AGAINST CONOR, because Conor knows how to maintain distance.
Khabib has to grab hold of a guy, normally in a clinch, to get the guy down. Again, that's not going to happen against Conor. DID YOUS EVEN WATCH THE ALVAREZ FIGHT? Eddie got nowhere close to a TD.
So what are your reasons? I've already nullified Mendes, so maybe it's bc of the first Nate fight? No, that doesn't make sense because Conor is the one who gassed and shot a sloppy double.
Maybe Conor's two submission losses? Lol, 10 years ago and 7.5 years ago, respectively. He's had a lot of time to get better, and we've seen it.
Besides, of Khabib's 26 wins, only 8 have been submissions. Face it, he's not a submission specialist. Khabib's other 18 wins are comprised of 8 knockouts (never going to happen and even the biggest Conor haters know this) and 10 decisions.
So the hope people have in Khabib is that he's gonna take Conor down and control him for a decision win. BUT THAT HAS NEVER HAPPENED.
Thoughts?
