Why isn't there more uproar about Edgar not being the alternate?

In my opinion, he's more deserving than Chad at the moment. He was ready. He campaigned for it. So why aren't more people asking Zuffa why they chose Chad instead of Frankie?

For me it's because I feel Mendes is just as qualified. Also people may not feel like complaining considering canceling the fight in all forms was possible.

I'm just impressed they went with one of the two most dangerous opponents for McGregor. I figured they'd bring back someone like Nam Phan to fight for an interim belt.

Finishing it, I agree. Chad has more power than Frankie. But winning the fight? I think Frankie poses more problems for Conor. His movement, getting in and out, the constant threat of a takedown, and his GNP has become really good.

Frankie is the tougher opponent of the two in my mind. Perhaps that played into it, but I've seen one other theory that might play into also, is that because Frankie said he wouldn't accept any fight but a title shot, painting Zuffa into a corner, slightly, this is their revenge, of sorts. I wouldn't put it past them to take something like that into consideration.

I think its because Edgar would out class Conor with his foot work and just totally out shadow him making the fact that he wasnt ready for a title shot.

Both beat Conor easily with wrestling AKA LaynPray so it really doesn't matter as far as that goes. The thing I don't understand is let's say Mendes wins the interim title and Aldo comes back in a few months. We get to see Mendes/Aldo 3? That's a laugher. Aldo already has a KO victory over Mendes and another dominating victory over him less than a year ago. Who wants to see that again? Not me.

I have a feeling this matchup was a quick decision and not thought out very well.

I like to see Mendes fighting mcgregor because i think that would make a more exciting fight, the shutdown a fighter wrestling style isn't really for me.
But i still love me some frankie he has got the biggest fighter heart of them all.
