There are a million theories floating around there, and I've followed some of them down some very dark rabbit holes. From what I can gather the most likely explanation I've heard is this;
Robbie was one of the most successful wedding DJs in the tri-state area. One night after a wedding, he tried some weed. He loved it, started smoking it recreationally, but then he found it was taking more and more of the stuff to get him high. He got strung out on it, ended up owing a lot of people money, and left the state before a lot of angry marijuana dealers broke his legs.
He prostituted his way up and down the eastern seaboard, looking for his next fix, he was a fucking mess and had no respect for himself or his body. There was nothing he wouldn't do for a puff of marijuana.
One night he was dancing at a bachelor party, and things got out of hand. He smoked so much marijuana that the men who had rented him for the night thought he was dead. They panicked and threw his body off a bridge.
Luckily for Robbie, instead of plunging into the cold water and his death, he landed on a cargo ship headed for England. He came to just as the boat docked in Liverpool.
His near death experience had changed him. He quit the weed cold turkey, got a job on the docks loading Halibut, joined an MMA forum, and started his new life.
