These poor women. How abusive are Italian men to jail their wives over something as petty as houework and meals. I guess the "for better or for worse, in sickness and in health, to death do us part" is left out of this chauvanistic Italian Catholic society.

I didn't see anything about abuse, just a lawsuit. Probably on the grounds of failure to uphold a contract. Ie. I work for money, you handle upkeep. If her lack of upkeep affected him enough, he might have a case against her. I fail to see how that is a man being abusive.
