Former Bellator lightweight champion Will Brooks will be looking to make an impact in the UFC right away, and oddsmakers seem to think he can do that. Brooks will make his UFC debut next weekend against Ross Pearson at the TUF 23 Finale, and the debuting fighter is a pretty lopsided favorite based on the opening line:

As expected, that line has already moved in Pearson's direction. As of this writing, the two books that have opened lines (5Dimes and SportBet) have Brooks at -425 and -407, respectively. Pearson sits at +305 and +325.

Brooks (18-1, 9-1 Bellator) claimed the Bellator interim lightweight title with a win over Michael Chandler, then beat him against for the full title in late 2014. He defended it twice before getting into a squabble with the promotion. This eventually led to him getting released in May, and he signed with the UFC a month later.

Pearson (19-10, 1 NC, 11-7 UFC, 1 NC UFC) is coming off a split decision win...

I think you guys are losing money but I would love to see Pearson box him up.

if Brooks played it smarter he would be facing the winner of Barboza vs. Melendez or something like that but the man has been sucking ufc cock forever.

Brooks will probably win a boring decision, blame octagon jitters, then promise to come back stronger.

But he will win.

I think Brooks is going to put Pearson on his back for most of this fight, but Ross is scrappy as hell should be a great matchup. Is Ross still training out of Alliance? I know a lot of those guys changed camps recently.

Pearson is one of those fighters most people like. He'll have to fight smart and use his best attributes well.
He can't afford to take a lot of damage or even let Brooks throw consecutive shots cause a quick stoppage is always a possibility.

Can he take him down? Can he sweep him? Can he show him an open window and then close it?

What do you guys think are his paths to victory?

He said he has been concentrating more on his boxing lately as that is what he does best......said boxing is his strength.......could just be getting brooks to think the other way.....

I've never seen brooks fight so can't really say what the best path is, but if Pearson is telling the truth, this fight will not last long from everything I'm hearing.
