Gotta be very careful in a tight space like that. Especially with that many optional turns - and keep an eye on the weather. A sudden rain could kill you quick.

But I've done some spelunking before. The tight spaces don't bother me. One particular cave was in Red River Gorge Kentucky. We were hiking on a trail that led to a cave opening. We walked in and the ceiling kept getting lower and lower. Eventually we were crawling, and there was about 8" of water on the ground which was a little unnerving. Eventually it opened up into a pretty big area that you could stand, and we could see light about 15' up above. We chimney climbed up the shoot and - even though we were in there for over an hour - we ended up about 40 yards from where we went in. It felt like we should have been about a mile away - but there must have been some snaky turns we didn't even know we were doing.

I was young and dumb then. We weren't planning on caving. We were just out for a day hike. 3 of us - and we only had 1 flashlight.
I wouldn't just jump into something like that today.

I have to say, absolutely no. I would just push upwards and let the chips fall where they may.

Caving plus diving. Fuuuuck no. My grandpa was a miner. Watching these videos is about as close as I ever want to get to that:

I remember my dad showing me as a kid some of the bootleg mines that the men would dig when they were on strike. They knew where the coal veins were, and since the company would block families from getting any anthracite for heating/cooking, they would go out at night into the woods and dig these hidden mine shafts. Think a 3x3' hole that you had a belly crawl down with your tools/pails tied behind you on a rope. If you didn't know exactly where they were, you'd never notice them.

At first I thought it looked dangerous, but then I saw the occasional stick holding the ceiling up.
Yeah, I am curious what the space is, maybe it is distorting in the video for the size of it and is actually 6 feet tall, looks like an old mine, even old train tracks in a couple of spaces

At 1:19 the camera angles down and you can see them walking, so yeah, there's a distorting effect.

Has to be. You couldn't crawl that fast.

Did a bunch of caving late 90s early 2000s. Its an exercise in mental control for sure.

Weirdest part is when you go in during the day and come out at night. Its just jarring for some reason, like your brain expects things to be how you left them.

It looked like cedar, which led me to lean toward an underground river in the ozarks.

I would do this if I had bulletproof retrieval processes.
The money would have to be better than good.

I used to go spelunking all the time when I was a teenager living in East Tennessee. Caves were everywhere. A lot of the ones we used to frequent have had their entrances blocked because so many dipshits have gone in and had to be rescued.

These days, the only caves/cave passages you're going to catch me in are ones I can stand up in.

It got so bad in Co they had to gate most of the known ones too. You had to work with the Colorado caving society and prove your credentials, then you could get keys/combos to get in.

I did really like technical spelunking, it was a different world and something not alot of people ever get to do.

When I did hoods in the woods we did some caving with some of the delinquents, THAT was an adventure lol.

Fuuuuuuuck that shit. No way I'm even poking my head in that hole.
Thats why I liked it, tbh. You had alot going on, can't make mistakes. Light is life and your gear is your way out. You have to be super on point and focused.
Constant mental game to not let any of it get to you. I definitely had a couple moments, got stuck once, for sure got turned around and felt the panic starting. ..Thats the game... get a handle on it, regain your composure, and work the problem.
Adventure, exploration, working as a team.... and then you go get tacos and talk about how awesome it was 😀

I love you bunches but I'll go have some beers with buddies over golf or fishing, and you can fuck around in holes that inhabit some shit that could kill a bear.
