General Yellowstone

I keep seeing contrasting stories about Yellowstone.
I'll read an article about how it's overdue erupting in such a cataclysmic way that it will cause a mass extinction, then a month later I'll see another one saying the vast magma chambers are actually not very full right now, and it probably won't erupt for tens of thousands of years at least.
Much like earthquake prediction, it seems like our current level of understanding means that we may as well try to read the future in tea leaves as listen to any particular scientific report.

It is likely bullshit as to knowing what is going on deep underground, humans love to think they have it all figured out when that is actually far from the truth.
