The wrestling move, not the prime minister. But listening to the Keeping it 100 podcast with Konnan and Disco and they had a convo about slaps and old school stomp the mat when you punch, and Konnan talking about before he was smartened up he thought maybe the stomp added extra force to the blow. Anyways, the whole chat got me thinking, as much as I can't stand the fake looking canadian destroyers, another move I always thought was goofy even as a kid, but just forgot about it and accepted it was the vertical suplex. Seriously, wtf. Ever tried to legit do that move as a shoot? Doesn't quite work the same way.

It was cool when Petey Williams pulled it off but became an overused transition move now. When you watch it in slow motion the giver is just holding on while the guy getting destroyed does an over rotated back body drop. Pretty much the same as any of the “sunrise” variations.

The DDT and SuperKick are in the same category. The DDT only looks good now when it’s a hammerlock variant and/or the guy grapevines the leg to make it look stiffer. Kinda pathetic how overusing a finisher can wreck it.

It looks that way in normal motion to me. Wasn't even a fan of Petey's back in the day. I think they do look awesome when done from above. IIRC, Dustin Rhodes did one of an apron and was devastating looking.

But yea, the vertical suplex was cheese too.

Suplex used to be a finisher. Id imagine much like the irish whip it was way more believable in its original execution.

Rickson gracie almost got suplexed legit in an nhb fight but he reversed it in midair.

I'm not saying you can't throw somebody from that position, I mean how they yank them up and the taker keeps his legs straight in the air.

Superkick. The answer you're thinking of is the Superkick.

EVERY-FUCKING-ONE does a Superkick now, and it never means fuck-all.
