Of course it’s always up to the enabler that accepts the loser. Doesn’t mean the family and friends are wrong on a pragmatic level. Love is emotional so logic fails here.

In my GF’s sisters case, they have been together so long the family feels as long as she is happy they are OK with it. That wasn’t always the case.
