My own productions mix electronic w/hip-hop, but as an engineer I work with just about any type of music. Did a thing for a pretty famous group from the 60's not long ago. These guys have been around longer than the Beatles.....
Cool deal!

Any work with any Americana/Bluegrass type bands? I have a few friends based out of Brooklyn in a few bands in that Genre.

Could you guys go into more detail about your current careers?

I know things can be monotonous, but I think it's very interesting, & a great thread.

Like, what's a week for you, and what are some of the things that you enjoy about your job?

I have a sales agency in which I work from a home office selling clothing and sledding gear to stores and dealerships across Canada. Things have slowed in the past year and I haven't been able to score a decent brand or two to help offset my slow season so this year it looks as though I'll be outside swinging a chainsaw around. It's been a while since I've been put to task on physical work, and my aging bones are concerned about holding up and performing up to task. I will be climbing mountains with fire fighting gear as the high season rolls in and the brushing work subsides. Come autumn, I hope to be back in the office continuing with my sales agency. If all goes well it should be a nice balance.

as boring as it sounds, I deal with major users of electricity and natural gas in the uk and have to advise them on ways to avoid purchasing at bad points in the markets, ie don't buy at the high points which are extremely detrimental to their businesses and put them in a position where they may be losing money compared to their competitors. Have to deal with board level decision makers who are financial directors, chief exec's, Cfo's, etc who are responsible for reducing risk to their bottom line, which is making money........at times difficult, but anyone could do what I can with a bit of training..........probably surprising coming from someone who comments on roadhouse and his nightly movie choices.

Doing shift work in a camp is not too common to most but its a pretty good gig if you can adjust your life to fit.

Right now I fly out on Mondays to start my shift Tuesday morning, all flights are booked and paid for through my employer. I live in Kelowna and fly first to Edmonton then get a charter flight to northern Alberta, Kearl Lake is the site name that I'm currently at.

This is what my home is for 2 weeks at a time

Typical room but sometimes I'll get a bit bigger one

I get all my meals provided and there's a decent gym and lounge with TVs and pool tables and shit to keep you some what sane.

As I said I'm a lock out tech which basically means I control where live electrical energy is or isn't depending on what's asked of me. The order of operations is construction crews will come in and build to drawings, then a quality control crew verifies all work is built to specs, then commissioners come in and run the equipment through it operations before handing it over to Esso, Shell or whoever owns the dirt. While things are being commissioned me and my team will keep the guys safe by ensuring we isolate all potential energy sources so nobody get hurt (we have everything from 120 volts to 72,000 volts)
or release energy so the equipment can do its trial runs.

The hands on work is fairly easy if you understand how it goes together but the majority of my job is administrative dealing with permits and paper trails so I can prove and be accountable to those I'm working with, shit get go sideways real fast if you're not super organized with 1000+ locks and tags in the field.

I do 14 days straight doing minimum 12 hour days then get 14 days off which is awesome, the overtime can really add up. I'll work pretty much half the year which allows me to do pretty much anything on my days off without having to book for vacation. The bad side is its really tough to maintain things like bjj as the 2 weeks at work is just enough for the tops of my feet and knees to heal up then I'll go back and spend the first week toughening up again which is very frustrating. The nest part is I can literally spend $0 the 2 weeks I'm home and don't have to worry about fuel in my truck, vehical wear, groceries and so on. If anybody has any interest in working up here just ask me anything, I work with people from all over the world here.

Right now this is my key brand, selling their DVD's, outerwear and soft goods..........the Slednecks riders are fucking animals on the mountain.

I have never spoken of it on the forums, but in the past I have also repped for some of the reputable fight brands such as Throwdown, UFC and Triumph United, with the biggest brand I have worked with being Metal Mulisha for about four years. It hurt to lose that one as it was making good money and was right on the cusp of exploding when the distribution contract expired with the company I was working with at the time and they opted to go direct.

Things really slowed down with that distribution company so I cut out on my own last summer with only Slednecks to my name. Unfortunately, there are not exactly a plethora of brands out there looking for reps, as any brand worth it's weight in sales has a rep who is holding onto it for dear life.

I write and execute endless SQL queries. Well, not all of them do I write. I am more of a beginner, working towards intermediate. I then analyze the data. Write reports based on it. Lots of spreadsheets. Its better than what I was doing and there is a future in it. But I still feel like I am just wasting time until I die.

I'd gladly drown my daughters cats to have your guys drawing abilities.
I didnt draw for almost two decades. Started about 18 months ago again. That pic was from about 2 months ago. So I have some level of natural talent but I also draw a lot. A few pics a day. Its really just practice.

I don't doubt that at all. I actually ordered a couple books on how to draw manga and shit like that as I love the art work but I just never put the time in

Currently I work at what is called the "Weapons School". Acouple times a year we get pilots from around the Air Force that come here to get certified as "Weapons Officers". once they graduate, they go back to their respective bases to train their pilots. We start with small munitions then gradually work up to what we call "Kitchen sink" where as it is implied, we load everything except the kitchen sink. 500lb bombs, Missiles, cluster bombs, laser guided gbu's Incendiary, Depleted Uranium, 30mm. Once we graduate the pilots we do it all over a-fucking-gain. Yesterday I removed a 30MM gun system. Today I loaded 2 jets with 4 bombs and air-to-ground missiles in 2 hours... and now I am here watching Spartacus and typing.

That's what I'm talking about.
30mm depleted uranium'S gotta be an A-10 GAU.
I wanted to go Airforce as a child, so by 9 I memorized The Ecyclopdia of World's military aircraft.
I could name from 20,000' anything that flew. Manufacturer, service date, flight ceiling, payload, top speed at altitude and sea level....
Watching Iron Eagle or Top Gun upset me as they tried to pass off IAI KFIR'S as migs.

I became a walking encyclopedia of relatively useless information :-(

Computer science by way of digital Sociology, Anthropology & Linguistics.....very interdisciplinary but great fun at the same time.
That sound like you are on your way to google C.s. with linguistics is a good match for them, my cousin is a linguistic anthropologist, he just defended his phD-thesis and got promoted to Dr.

I love all music. Everybody says that, my Ipod reflects it. I kinda have to.....
I do a lil mixing, mostly for DJs.
When hearing "all music", I always question,...Opera and Polka?
They are very challenging for me to mix...?
