Lol why dont they just come out and say they would rather have joanna as champion becaise they dont know how to market rose
Dana is going to shave off Paige's hair and glue it to Rose's head. Problem solved.

The problem is that the higher ups do not respect the sport, and only promote what they view as larger than life personalities, not the sport itself. Which would lead someone to reasonably speculate why they dont promote certain fighters.
Joe Rogan told a story about a conversation between two WME execs before the Rousey-Nunes fight. They were talking like it was a WWE fight that Ronda would definitely win. Joe was incredulous.

After this he fought Koshcheck then Hughes then Serra for the rematch.
I forgot about this.

In the meantime, Serra didn't fight at all (inactive for 1yr, 12 days) Makes you wonder if Serra was injured and couldn't give the rematch instantly.

I agree whole heartedly, and may shed a tear later at what should be, but we are most certainly in the IG model, cut a shitty scripted promo, cartoon character era in MMA.

Notice how WME promotes their shit. Its these odd promos where it has nothing to do with fighting, but people walking down a road towards each other, children playing in the street with a soccer ball, with concession stands. Only for the big cards. The “smaller cards” they just say “Hey, this card is happening.” They promote MMA like its some trendy niche thing, where it may very well be the pinnacle of sports in terms of physical endurance, strategy, teamwork (before the fight), and overall discipline.

I hate Joe Rogan sometimes, but he brought up a great point on a podcast. Mentioned how fighting is the most basic form of dominance. Someone isnt going to kick someone’s ass, then the loser isn’t going to say “Yeah, but I can dunk hoops around you.” This sport is the legit toughest of the toughest. Yet they promote it like WWE. I love WWE, but goddamn that isn’t MMA. Colby Covington gets more publicity than someone like Mousasi for some shit promo? Really?

He was injured. He had a problem with his back that continues to bother him to this day. Georges only didn't get an immediate rematch because Serra was out. Serra was supposed to fight Hughes after he won the title, but his injury got Georges booked against Hughes instead for an interim title. Georges won the belt then unified in the rematch with Serra. Matt got Hughes next fight.

Listen, I love shitting on the UFC as much as anyone else, but they really have tried when it comes to promoting any semi-marketable fighter in that division. (By marketable, I mean a feminine woman who speaks English, lets be real)

Examples of 115lb fighters the UFC has done the best they could with, in my opinion:

- JJ: She is at best OK looking when dolled up and her English is broken but good enough. KInda quirky woman. They have put a lot into her marketing, as they should and I think they have done the best they can with what they had to work with.
- Rose: The UFC were planning on her being the next Ronda after TUF20 and really got they PR machine behind her. Then she lost to Esparza, which was bad. Then she cut her hair which was real bad. Then she decided to double down on the "nature loving hippy who speak Ebonics" persona which is even worse. NONE of that can be blamed on the UFC. Once, again, they have done the best they can.
- Tecia: Personality of a block of wood. Nothing for the UFC to work with.
- Claudia and Andrade: Good looking girls, but they sound like 5 pack a day long haul truckers with broken English. Very hard to market.
- Karolina: Beautiful and exciting fighter. But the worst English of any of them, which makes it tough.
- Waterson: The whole package and the UFC knows it. They have marketed the hell out of her but injury and now the loss to Rose is out of their control.
- Calvillio: Fiesty personality, english speaker and ok looking. The UFC is really pushing her and doing a good job, I think.
- Paige Vanzant: They really went all out on her, but the losses have really taken a toll.

I guess my point is, the UFC is working with what they have as far as promotion goes. Not everybody has that "it" factor and even fewer who can be champs have it.
Damn so much TRUTH here... Especially in regards to Rose.
What the fuck is ma girl doing man. Doll the fuck up, act bubbly
and blonde... and get yo paper boo boo!
