The UFC is on the verge of officially booking Robert Whittaker vs. Luke Rockhold for UFC 221 on Feb. 10 in Perth, Western Australia, MMAFighting.com has learned. It is unclear at this time whether the fight will be for Whittaker’s interim 185-pound title or Georges St-Pierre’s official one, however, St-Pierre’s recent comments seem to suggest it would be for the official belt.

“I’m not sure if I compete I will go back at 185,” St-Pierre, who was recently diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, told TSN on Wednesday. “I don’t think so.”

Not sure what's worse... The fact that WME/UFC was in such a bad way that they allowed a guy fight for one of their titles knowing full well that he was unlikely to fight again....... Or that that guy beat Bisping BWAAAHAAAHAAA

Fun fight, Whittaker has come into his own and has hit his prime ..Rockhold appears to be a bit on the decline but still a dangerous fight.

I'd go Whittaker as well.

Makes sense. They put legit contenders against each other for the interim title to determine the hardcore fan’s legit champion.

Whittaker vs Romero and canceled fight of Fergy vs Khabib, by many, were considered two contenders going at it, then have money fights before the main title.

Shame we won’t see the one true GOAT GSP fight again most likely, was a travesty he was thrown into the main title scene.

Whittaker/Rockhold is decent for establishing a new lineage, but the 145, 185 and 205 lineal titles are pretty much gone for good :(

I agree 100% on Whittaker setting the standard on 185 for the champ that should be recognized, but will disagree with 145.

Think Holloway should be recognized as the true champ of 145, based off win streak and overall performance overall. Do undersrand the McGregor vacate argument, but this guy dominated Aldo twice rather than a flash KO (for the ages, granted). And has established himself as the top tier striker of the division, much like Renan at 135 when Cruz was on the shelf. Consistency has a large merit.

Love GSP, but would recognize the winner of Luke vs Whittaker as the true champ, where the main title is more of a money fight sort of thing.

205 I cannot unbiasedly comment on. I do not like DC, and see JBJ as the true champ, bit that is total bias and will admit that.

But 145 belongs to Holloway

Good fight.

I think it will be tough for both. Not sure which way I'm leaning yet

GSP relinquished the belt and this is for the real title. I think we will see GSP fight again. I don't think he is done. I think he will drop back down to face either Woodley or McGregor.

I'm pretty sure GSP is now the lineal middleweight, welterweight, and lightweight champion...don't quote me.

I hope not. I'd rather it wasn't Mike he took the belt from but I was impressed with iz performance and I'd rather that stay with us as his parting gift. I don't want him retiring (again) with a potential loss.

WW and MW uncontestably, but McGregor is the actual lineal LW champ. If both McG and Georges don't come back 145-205 is basically in an era of rebirth.

Damn right. Ppl fought for years to make the Octagon legal in Perth and we get this pos of a card. I’ll watch at a pub maybe but def not getting tickets for this
I bought my tickets straight away and all the ticket prices were ridiculous for the quality of the card. I dont know how the UFC expect to sell this PPV tho its a horrible card. The main event is the only good fight and even then many people could call that a fake belt. They have basically just filled the card with aussies or kiwis.

Great fight but not so great ppv card. In fact, one of the worst ever.
