I believe your knee or back or whatever has to touch the canvas and it has to be clear it was due to the strike and not a slip or off balance

it's the referee that makes the call. you can even have a standing count so there's no rule regarding glove touching the floor or something like that. it must be due to a clean strike and not an off balance/slip. kickboxing referees are awful but that 3rd round strike was not a knockdown indeed.

just to clarify - I don't have no legit source for that number I'm going based off what I read that Glory's LW champion and #1 p4p kickboxer in the world Sittichai usually makes. if you consider that top fighters like Saki, Spong, Kyshenko, Badr Hari and others have held out from fighting and/or moved to starting from zero in boxing or mma I believe that's a good indicator that pay is low. it's very posible that they are able to lowball the thais and considering that Sittichai went from fighting 10+ times an year before and had only 5 fights in 2017 I assume he's getting paid more now - but still he fights more often in China than in Glory. I bet his Glory pay is very low and that's why he's inactive in Glory. that's why Saki moved from being elite at kickboxing to UFC Reebok money contract.
Like I said a few select guys must get good money as guys like Holzken and van Roosmalen are able to fight only 2-3 times an year and I wouldn't be surprised if Rico is making triple or quadruple times that figure but that's not the norm for sure.
that is Petpanomrung Kiatmuu9 turned into "Petch... Kiatmookao" in Glory. "Kao" means "nine" in thai and I think they changed it so it wouldn't look that weird to western audiences. like "OMG his name is a number??". This is the best muay thai camp of the last decade. the chubby guy in his corner takes kids from the village near the gym and turns them into champions. no scouting or picking up established fighters. all of the best from the camp are related even. like one is the younger brother of the other and they're all cousins at some degree.
Anyway Petpanomrung is one of the most talented muay thai fighters of the last generation and posibly the highest regarded muay thai fighter to ever cross over to kickboxing while in prime form and good shape. Unlike what most people think Buakaw was a mid-level muay thai fighter and other big names that made the move to kickboxing were fat, unmotivated and way past their prime.
Pet scored a few high kick KOs like that in the stadiums in Thailand and he only started competing under kickboxing rules last november. in that time he has fought seven times in kickboxing and has already faced the very best of the FW division outside of the K-1 Japan guys who have exclusive contracts. He faced Robin van Roosmalen and Serhiy Adamchuk who are the very best in Glory and Wei Rui who is the best chinese kickboxer; KOed Zouggary who is no slouch, and had shady point deductions against RvR and Wei Rui which cost the decision both times. He outclassed RvR IMHO and only lost due to Glory's awful refereeing and biased scoring towards "agression" and punches in the air which is van Roosmalen's prefered method of winning.
Pet also lost his last muay thai fight in Thailand a few months back against Rambo by getting ilegally kicked in the face while on the ground which was pretty shocking and brutal. the poor guy was doomed so I hope last weekend's highlight reel KO brings him new luck.

I remember him from the last glory or Belator kickboxing (unsure which) event I watched before this one and you told me a bit about him but this post was fantastic to get a brief history lesson on the guy
it has got to be from Glory. he had a few underwhelming performaces while getting used to kickboxing rules and was rushed to a title fight against RvR. Then he had an awesome performance adding good left crosses and hard knees in the clinch to his relentless kicking game. unfortunately in Glory when you use the clinch effectively though you can get a point deducted. if you just hold to get out of trouble and wait for the referee to break it it's no problem but if you actually throw knees/take the back then everybody acts like that is a dirty tactic or something. it's ridiculous. clinching is an instinctive part of fighting anyway,
but yeah Pet is awesome. I tried to refrain from such an absolute claim in the other post but I'll take my chances now - he is one of the craftiest fighters I've ever seen.
