Listening to Brian Fogel, who produced Icarus on JRE #1019 was eye-opening for me, as was watching the documentary. It is clear that Russia has brought the doping game to a new level, but by far they are one of the many, many countries that have some sort of program for their athletes.

There was a little embellishment on part of Fogel, other countries have been caught doing similar things in the past. Granted they don't have the president directing traffic which is truly incredible, but I digress. They only beat Norway by 2 gold medals and Canada by 3 in Sochi. For a team doing something revolutionary they're results weren't very good.

The others just didn't get caught. The reason Russia got caught is probsbly due to the nature of its scale. But I believe that the Olympics is a steroids contest, a geopolitical pissing contest with lots of money at stake.
