That whole thing with her apologizing was atrocious. I hated watching it. I'm all for shaming a fighter for screwing up but making her get on her knees to beg forgiveness from the fans...that's a bit much even by my standards. I'm even somewhat hardcore about my ideas for penalizing fighters, including wishing that fighters that withdraw from a fight due to a bad weight cut the day before the fight should be counted as a DQ or TKO (Forfeit) loss on their record.
Yeah that was just painful to watch, and right after Rizin earned points with me for actually cancelling the match too.
If Rizin's gonna keep Gabi under contract (which I assume they will if they asked her to do that shit), the best "punishment" would be to stop protecting her and find her some credible opponents. There are actually a few large women who wouldn't be mismatches and might give her a rough night, like Jozette Cotton and Sarah Patterson. Right now, the Gabi Garcia experiment is rapidly falling apart. If she's not gonna be professional, at least try and show that she's credible with who she gets booked to fight. If she loses, she was gonna get exposed at some point anyway. If she wins, maybe she can redeem both herself a bit and not be a running joke. Otherwise I don't wanna see her in MMA, and certainly not on a relatively big stage like Rizin.
