Spent a small fortune on a double-layer down coat for my buddy since we have to walk to school every morning this year. It's definitely keeping him warm, and it's so puffy, with the hood up he looks like a little Juggernaut. Of course, I layer him up so much, probably any coat would do, but in the teens, it's the expensive coat and L.L. Bean snow pants (which he hates because he says "they slow me down. I need to run around. I NEED to!").

I never owned a "The North Face" coat before, so nothing to compare it to. This one has a removable liner that can be a jacket on its own as well when the weather gets warmer.

I do remember kids in middle school bragging about it as one of the "in" brands, like Fila, Starter, etc. But my mom couldn't afford that stuff, so I didn't really pay too much attention to it.

Lol @ starter and fila ever being “in”. Maybe if your teacher was Michelle pfeiffer.

As I understand it used to be high quality but it changed ownship and a large companies that only care about profits bought it and much has changed.

But you never know about the opinion community. Some of them have no real idea, they just like to slag on every things based on a big company buying out a small brand always spelling doom.

You weren't shit if you didn't have a starter jacket in my neighborhood.
One of my guy friends looks for starter hats and these pullover jackets from the nineies at garage sales and second hand shops. Apparently they were big huuuge then and made a come back because they were really high quality. He's a clean cut white boy but there's a pretty pumpin' market for it.

You were the coolest guy in school if you had one for this thing is worth bank right now in mint condition.

Wife bought me a couple North Face pullovers and a toboggan for Christmas. The toboggan has a fuzzy ball which is kewl.
This is a toboggan.

I think you mean a toque.

Though I guess it’s possible your wife gave you a toboggan with a Pom Pom on it.

I like Northface, Columbia, or Patagonia, but a carrhart never failed me either. Right now single digits here, so warm clothing is important more than ever!

My mom might still have my patriots pull over haha....

To answer your question North face's higher end jackets are still awesome but way over priced.

I live in Canada and I bought a "far west" bomber jacket....the warmest most breathable jacket I've ever owned.

Always buy winter jackets on sale so you can get the good stuff and not pay gentile prices FYI.

That's like rapist jogging in the park gear though. That used to be cool?
Ouch.
In the late 80’s, everybody at my school wanted the winter version of that CB jacket (specifically red with blue stripe). If there were a group of junior high kids at the mall in the winter, at least half of them would have a red/blue CB jacket on.

Put it on eBay. Make sure to note its your own original Starter from ninties. Even if it's not perfect people will still buy it if you price it accordingly.

Inside it should say made in Korea or Taiwan. Snap a pic of that too. That's how they know It's the good old stuff and not from China.

I just checked and I guess patriots is a good team because the used jacket is going for $100 or more while the raiders one is only $60. :moneybag:

the only north face thing I ever bought was a beanie. I actually own zero jackets even in the snow it isn't that cold here.

They are still so much better priced than Canada Goose. I know Canada Goose manufactures in Canada and uses higher fill loft on average per jacket ( 50 - 100) but they are double the price of North Face and rarely go on sale -- maybe $100 off of $1000. NF goes on sale every year around this time, really good sales like 30% ~ 40% . I also think NF jackets look nicer than CG. I really hate that round patch thing on the arm and It's such a cliche to see an Asian person (Chinese) wearing them that I don't want one.
