Spent a small fortune on a double-layer down coat for my buddy since we have to walk to school every morning this year. It's definitely keeping him warm, and it's so puffy, with the hood up he looks like a little Juggernaut. Of course, I layer him up so much, probably any coat would do, but in the teens, it's the expensive coat and L.L. Bean snow pants (which he hates because he says "they slow me down. I need to run around. I NEED to!").
I never owned a "The North Face" coat before, so nothing to compare it to. This one has a removable liner that can be a jacket on its own as well when the weather gets warmer.
I do remember kids in middle school bragging about it as one of the "in" brands, like Fila, Starter, etc. But my mom couldn't afford that stuff, so I didn't really pay too much attention to it.
