@Hauler since you are our resident Browns fan, I ask you...
I've seen, read, and heard many people say they need to take a QB with either the 1st or 4th pick in the first round. I would counter with this ideology: They should stick with Kizer-Soze. Sure he led the league in interceptions, but as a Chicagoan, I get to watch damn near every ND game. Kizer is better than his numbers suggest. Who the hell did he have to throw the ball to? Spoiler alert: No one. Now he has Gordon back, unless he fucks up his career, again, but he seems to be doing well in getting his life back on track. Along with Corey Coleman, assuming he isn't indicted on his recent assault charge can come back healthy, now he has 2 legit deep threats on the outside. Not to mention Barnridge is a serviceable TE, especially if they can stretch the defense.
So, what they should do, IMO, is draft Saquan Barkley #1 as nothing helps a mediocre QB get better than having a legit threat in the backfield. Plus by doing so, they then have Crowell and Johnson as trade bait, as Barkley has the skill to replace them both. Of course Im not saying trade both, as you need a back up, but either or could catch you some booty be it players or a pick or 2 this year or in the future or a combination there of.
Then with pick #4, solidify the offensive line with someone like McGlinchey out of ND, who I suspect played with Kizer and would help their passing game or Orlando Brown out of OK if they just want to have a superior running game based on Barkley. Plus either can become much better if they are learning from an assured 1st ballot HOFer in Joe Thomas.
Goff sucked last year, then led the Rams to a prolific offense in his second year with the help of a good QB coach, which Hue Jackson is reported to be. Then integrate Jabrill Peppers into the offense, say 5 plays a game. Throw in some wildcat plays with him.
If they follow my suggestions, I would bet they have a better record next season, than this last one.
