Let's not let the idea of fake belts get in the way.

Which fight would you rather see next?

I have a strange feeling that they're gonna pass right over Tony Ferguson and give the money fight to Khabib, as that is a more marketable fight.

Conor should fight the interim belt holder, which at this moment is Tony.

Conor vs Tony is not an exciting fight. Tony gets KO'd easily.

I mean if this goofy bastard comes in like this against Conor, it's gonna be a short night:

Khabib's ground game actually makes for an interesting fight.

Same thing can be said about Khabib if he comes rushing in as he tends to do when aggressively pursuing takedowns.

I voted Tony, but either challenger presents unique problems for Conor.
This actually makes me upset that the fight between Khabib and Tony never came to be.

Yeah I've actually been meaning to make a gif of Khabib's awkward bull rushes in the Barboza fight, but I've just been too damn lazy.

Basically Conor's knockout power and solid standup are the biggest threat to both challengers.

Whereas Khabib's solid takedowns and Tony's stamina and durability are the threat to Conor.

Tony is the only well rounded guy of the three. Other 2 are specialist. Because of this I'd bet on Tony against either.

I think Tony has been good about dealing with problem situations like staph infections and opponent changes (not talking about the khabib/mj thing, that had other issues associated with it), but he doesn't fight as well as he does when he has prepared for one person and then fights them (and doesn't get upset about staph infections).

Yeah Tony has endurance, but he doesn't have the chin to take repeated left hand power punches.

Tony is not Nate Diaz.

Have you noticed Tony repeatedly getting caught like the gif you posted or just in that fight? Tony has 9 wins via sub and all of Conors loses are subs, doesn't mean it's a lock Tony will sub him. I mean that's how I think Tony would get it done but...

That Vannata fight could have been stopped at least two different times and no one would have complained.

Would you agree?

In Tony's defense he was fighting an opponent he had no clue about on short notice and Vannata can strike. I'm sure if and when he faces McGregor he is going to be watching out for that big left hand.

Not saying that Tony would win against McGregor by the way, but imo it's a 50/ 50.

Tony vs Conor would probably be the most competitive of all the possible match-ups. Can Tony get Conor to the ground before he takes too many shots to the head, and/or, can he survive the early rounds, take McGregor into deep waters, and drown him? Khabib is a bad match-up for either Conor or Tony, but for Conor, he's also the biggest name available at lightweight, internationally (i.e. Russia).

I actually think Tony won't be an easy fight for Khabib because of Tony's sneaky submissions.

I voted Khabib because I want to see Conor mauled and beat up and Khabib does this, Tony might beat Conor, I think he would but it wouldn't be the mauling that Khabib puts on him

*** Clip was before UFC 209 but believe it's still Conor's wish to fight Khabib in Ru$$ia.

There's too much bread on the table to risk Tony messing up that huge UFC pay day. Tony will have a meltdown but, whether in Russia or not, the Khabib v. Conor fight is the one to make.

Neither.

Khabib vs Tony next.

McGregor takes another boxing fight (possibly Mayweather rematch) under Zuffa Boxing, and relinquishes his LW belt.

Tony vs Khabib.

Conor wants no part of Khabib.

Conor's best bet is versus Tony but I doubt that even happens.

If its not T Ferg then there is no division and the status of UFC Champ and belts are pointless.

Either make the damn belts mean something or do away with them and just do money fights
and freak shows and stop fucking jerking around with my emotions and telling me lies and pillow talk
that this shit is real one day and then fucking my best friend and showing me its all fake bullshit the next.

While I do believe Conor will eventually fight one of these two, Tony will fight Khabib first. Conor will drop his belt, he's not going to put himself in a situation where he has to fight both men. He wants out of the MMA game, maybe he'll box again, but he doesn't want to be in the position to have to fight Tony first, then the waiting Khabib.... They'll fight each other and knock one out of contention (satiating the fans), winner fights Conor, and win or lose he walks away. Hell even at this point, I don't think he fights Nate Diaz again, or if he does, it'll be in a boxing match.
