Chelsea Manning, the former Army intelligence analyst who spent several years in prison for leaking classified information, has filed to run as a Democratic candidate for Senate in Maryland.

Manning was convicted in 2013 of stealing 750,000 pages of sensitive government documents and videos and leaking them to WikiLeaks and received a sentence of 35 years in prison on 20 counts, including violating the Espionage Act. After the sentencing, Manning, who was then known as Bradley, identified as transgender and changed her first name to Chelsea.

President Barack Obama commuted Manning's sentence in January 2017 and Manning was released from prison in May 2017.

Do you really think that's why she did it though?

When I watch interviews with her, I just don't get the same vibe that I do with Snowden (whose patriotism and motivation I don't doubt for a second).

With Manning I get the feeling that she just didn't want to die in combat in Iraq and was looking for a way out.

She leaked around 750,000 classified and sensitive documents to WikiLeaks. I seriously doubt she read and fully understood them all. She could have cost lives and is just lucky she did not. She seems like a subversive person who did it not as a patriot. There does not seem to be enough evidence either way to trust her with more secrets as a member of the US government.

Even if I lived in whatever loser state she's running in, I wouldn't vote for her for the same reason I didn't vote for Trump - she's unqualified and would be a complete fuck up if elected
