Kind of thinking about starting a vinyl collection, mostly for the artwork, not gunna lie. But I can't get over how impractical they are. And so I come to you. Yay or Gay?

I voted yay though vinyl aren't for me. I can't justify them but they do make for a cool collection.

I just got a Shins, REM, and Pearl Jam record in the mail just now. I own hundreds of records and I love all of them.

Expensive but so worth it.

I mean

People collect stuff. All kinds of stuff. I'd think of it the same as collecting comic books or beanie babies.

Pretty gay tbh,

And hipster too.

If you want to collect stuff I'd recommend ammunition and cans of peaches for when the apocalypse arrives.

Okay op

If you are gonna get records like these sent to your home address at least make sure they get sent in a box labeled gay porn or something. At least save yourself some kudos with the neighbors

You’re trying too hard. Why not put this much energy into looking for a job?

Don't forget if you ever get married your wife will make you pack that shit away in the basement where moisture and floods will ruin them and they end up at good will.

Or you can marry a lady who collects vinyl as well like I did.

Although be careful. My daughter put a tiny Christmas tree in our record player last month and wrecked our needle... $70 later.

Not in Pakistan.

She will be the one living in the basement.

Like I said I mostly just want the artwork, but then if I buy vinyls I'll also need to get a good record player, because the only thing gayer than buying vinyls is not listening to them. Is there any sort of advantage to vinyl over digital such as 320 kbps or FLAC? Or is it purely a douche brigade?

There will always be a warmth to analog sound that digital can't fuck with. It's why musicians still use tube amps.

I've been married 4 years, I have my own space in the basement where all my stuff can be ruined by moisture and floods at the same time

1. Gay
2. Money pit (overpriced)
3. Just listen to flacs

Seriously though I was in the same boat about a year and a half ago, a nice turntable went of sale so I had all these thoughts of starting a super cool vinyl collection.

I realized I'm just too accustomed to listening to flacs on the computer. I didn't like the whole process of handling the vinyls either, was always scared I'd drop or scratch it. Ended up selling the turntable and the few records I bought.
