I know this weekend was opening week for deer around here.
We’ve been open for a couple of weeks now. Haven’t gotten anything yet, but I’m on the trail of a nice 8-point. I’ve seen him twice, but couldn’t get a shot. I know he is bedded up somewhere along the creek bed I hunt, but I don’t wanna put too much pressure on him. Going to break out the calls next time I go out. I’ve seen a few smaller bucks and most hunts I see numerous does.
I saw 7 doe this weekend when I was hiking. No bucks. I got pretty close to a couple doe up on a ridge - maybe 30 yards - before i spooked them. They were munching on acorns.
Where is this at? So many Pines...Just got back from a hike to some waterfalls.

Might go for a hike today. It's the first day over 20 degrees (-7 C) in about 3 weeks. Going all the way up to 45 today (7 C).
In 4 days I'm heading out into the wilderness to freeze my ass off for a few days. It's all about testicular fortitude. Weather doesn't look all that challenging though. Not like a few years ago when it dipped to -7 (-22 C). That was cold.
It's my annual "FUCK YOU" to winter.

We're exploring some new areas, so no big expectations of catching, but that's fine because just fishing is good enough.

I gave my bike to my brother. It's only a street bike and not a mountain bike, but regardless, it's useless in South Florida. Too damn humid.
He just moved into a house next to a nature preserve near a huge lake so he is going to take it out onto the dirt trails on the reserve. He has a carriage type of thing that attaches to the back for his two little ones but all he had before was his wife's pink beach cruiser. He was gonna buy a shitty Wal-Mart bike if he hadn't mentioned it to me.
Where he lives is cool. Besides your typical squirrels, raccoons, and opossums, there are also wild rabbits and even bobcats and coyotes
Coyotes I wouldn't be worried about but fuck running into a bobcat.

I'm routinely camping in these habitats. I've found tracks for bobcats but have never laid eyes on one. I'm sure they've seen me. I've spotted a few coyotes out in the woods but they are pretty skittish. Like the Blues Brothers - they make a lot of racket at night.
Heard that. Went hiking in Colorado with my dog, and came across really fresh tracks of a large cat. When I told my uncle I scoffed at using the trail, and just went off road, he told me I was 'fucking stupid". We never spoke of it again.
Went for a walk at the nature preserve today... these are the two pic I took on my phone. Have a bunch more on my camera.

I actually went fishing alone for the first time in my life last week. I have always gone with someone. I didn’t catch anything (except my freaking line on rocks, multiple times), but I was really proud of myself.Cool photos

It's not for everyone, but I love fishing and camping in the wilderness by myself.
Your gators are cold blooded, but if I run across a mountain lion or bear, we can snuggle for warmth.
It was on the intercostal. I will be going back, it was so nice to do alone.
I’ll cuddle an octopus if I come across one.
