All I can hear is the odd siren right now. This thread's making me miss Shenandoah something fierce, the hiking there was so lovely.

Thor's hammer just exploded in the skies.
The birds are freaking out.

Today might get interesting.

My wife showed me this really cool app for identifying trees/plants. I thought it would be useful for those who encounter an unfamiliar plant or tree when camping or on a nature walk.

It's called "Picture This" and is available for both iPhone and Android.

Here are a few screenshots of a picture I took of a known tree:

With trees I've noticed it's better to get a clear shot of the bark if you can't get a close-up of the leaves. Haven't tried it on plants yet.

It's cool because it gives you different options if you didn't take the greatest picture. The options include example photos, so you can match your photo with whichever option it is.

We're selling our travel trailer and I'm looking for some good tent recommendations. Probably get an 8 man, 6 may be too small and 10 man is excessive for us. Feel free to add in any other helpful tenting set up advice for eating, coffee, beds...

Is weight a factor?

After about 5 years of heavy use, our large tent for car camping finally took a shit. I'm in the market for a new one too. I have my eyes on this...

REI Co-op Kingdom 8. 12'6 x 8'4. I've checked it out in their store. It's a good quality tent. Better be for the $$$.
REI Co-op Kingdom 8 Tent

You can get it with a "garage" too. It's probably bigger than we need so I might settle on the 6.

That's a nice one. I've been looking at the cabin style for 8 or anything else with more than one big room.

The 1st one looks a lot like the Coleman Sundome that served us well for years with heavy, heavy use. For the price, I don't think you can beat a Coleman with this type of tent.

The rainfly on the 2nd and 3rd tents scare me. Rain usually doesn't come straight down.

So cool. Once my kids are older and I can go solo or just wife and I want to do more 4x4ing trips into the woods and get gear like this.

With these you can go solo or zip two of them together for a shared space.

For my summer festivals I use the Coleman red 8 man you have up there...so cheap and they last a few years...not a bad tent.

I have a few nice tents but I don't take them to festivals cause some drunk guy might fall into it and break it or some shit....cheap is often the way to go unless you are packing the tent with you...cheap for car camp, and expensive for backpacking at least in my experience.

whoa that is bizarre and cool...can you do more than just two? would be hilarious in a circle...would make an epic orgy setup
