I'm not sure juicey Brock is part of the solution. Work with the fighters they have instead of bringing back old favourites.

Zuffa never liked to spend money on more than one or two athletes at a time, in terms of focused marketing campaigns, because the plan appeared to be, in the simplest terms, smash and grab for as long as possible, then sell at the optimum moment before the economic realities of MMA kicked in. The Fertitta brothers played it perfectly, and I'm looking forward to the day when a book is written or a movie is made about their exploits. The problem with that approach is that it's not only shortsighted but bubbles do tend to burst, and that's what happened to JBJ (more than once), Ronda, Brock, GSP when he left for four years, Liddell when his chin was gone, and most recently Francis when he was exposed as one-dimensional power puncher against Stipe. I don't think anyone's given up on Ngannou just yet, but another loss like that would seal his fate in terms of being the huge draw the UFC was banking on him to be.

Without typing too much, maybe the solution lies in what has already been done in other professional sports? If you want to stick to combat sports comparisons, look at what boxing did in the 80s and early 90s.

The Gus fight always comes to mind when fans try to downplay his (Jones) PED usage. In a close fight like that one, where the decision could've gone either way, how much of a difference do steroids make, or EPO? An extreme example of a guy on PED's vs a USADA tested version of the same athlete would be Hunt vs. Bigfoot 1 compared to Hunt vs. Bigfoot 2.

At least now that the ufc is shitty i am enjoying a few other promotions again.acb was great this week.bellator is exciting .hell ganryujima was pretty interesting and weird.rizin is my favorite by far.basically the ufc is no longer the only game in town and its awesome

Yes exactly. I think guys like Gus and DC are the biggest victims of all, especially DC. If Jones wasn't using steroids would he have had the strength to stop the takedowns? Would he have had the explosiveness to land that head kick? Maybe, maybe not. We'll never know, but I think it's safe to assume that if a man cheats, it's because he doesn't think he can win without it. Otherwise why take the risk?

The UFC should be where the best of the best fight. Too many fighters on the roster, many of which should still be in the bush leagues IMO. They should drastically trim the roster, freeing up cash flow for the fighters they do keep, scrap Reebok, and change their marketing approach away from putting all their eggs on one fighter. Rehashing the same "Ooo these guys don't like each other!" marketing is obviously stale and disingenuous most the time.

They should focus more on what makes the individual fighters unique and market that more, creating more interesting characters for fans to invest in rather than a roster of 498 cookie cutter Reebok atheletes. With a smaller roster it will allow their marketing team more time and focus to build each fighter
