UFC 223 takes place April 7 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., and airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass. The event is headlined by a lightweight title fight between champion Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov.

In addition to championship fight and Chiesa (14-3 MMA, 7-3 UFC) vs. Pettis (20-7 MMA, 7-6 UFC), a 155-pound bout between Al Iaquinta and Paul Felder also is on the card. Those three fights are followed by a showdown featuring Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje, which headlines UFC on FOX 29 the following week on April 14.

Chiesa and Pettis both will look to rebound from losses in their previous bouts.

Michael Chiesa vs. Anthony Pettis in the works for UFC 223

With 5 losses in his last 7 fights, Pettis needs this win badly. Not sure he gets it.

The card is shaping up nicely. I'm gonna tune in for that one, unless it falls apart due to injuries.

I noticed with Pettis all you need to do is fight him? If you hesitate he starts setting up his excellent striking, such as with Lauzon or Cerrone. But Hollaway, Dos Anjos and Barboza all went out and just hit him. Its odd.

I guess what I am saying is I hope Chiesa just goes out there and hits him.

yeah if the opponent lets him dictate the fight he has the skills to pick you apart. but if the opponent pushes the fight and takes away the octagon control, then Pettis has got nothin for it

He lives on the double edge sword.. he's so comfortable off of his back and that's hard to break him off that. . You can see glimpses of him stuffing TD with double unders but when he starts getting tired he will give up the takedown...He's got a nasty grappler in Chiesa in front of him and he best not give up his back.. he also better not throw kicks and stick to his hands

Normally I would root for Pettis here, but I am so sick of Chiesa’s whining and excuses when he loses, I just don’t think I can take any more

Correct me if i am wrong. Pettis boxing is not good . If his boxing was even 30% like Conor then he would have won many fights.
