Not really. In the above posts, you rightly identify McGowan as having Democratic leanings, but of course we don't know the political orientation of the trans woman she's arguing with. Even if we did, they're not discussing anything political. It's like if Condoleezza Rice and Caitlyn Jenner (both Republicans) were having the same discussion, is the right then self-cannibalizing? I'm only harping on this because I think thinking opposing violence against women or trans women is political is a strange and twisted proposition, yet the GOP has consistently voted against the Violence Against Women Act over the last couple decades, particularly the expansion of its protections to LGBT survivors.
Hopefully at her next book signing someone calls her out on making a film with a convicted child molester.
