Now you may be asking yourselves, 'is lordofthepies drunk or is he just a fucking retard?' And the answer is yes.

But hear me out - or I'll fight you (I will get my mom to fight you). There may be guys with far better resumes according to the usual metrics, but the usual metrics are for liberal cucks. Only queers use the word 'metric' anyway.

No champion has the absolute quality of wins on his record like Whittaker does with Romero and Jacare. The only other loss either of those suffered in the UFC was when they fought each other, and anybody sensible scored that fight a draw. Romero and Jacare are probably the two best athletes in MMA, both being absolute elite world champions of their initial disciplines. They have both beaten the fuck out of everyone else good - Romero in particular and Whittaker beat him on one leg.

I would say that only Jon Jones with wins over DC and Gus is a contender in terms of absolute quality wins and he currently doesn't count. Gus also got destroyed by Rumble.

Why do we value beating up a bunch of comparative bums when you've beaten the best? Come at, in, and all over me bros.

Jon Jones beat DC a Olympic level wrestler with ease.

Mighty Mouse beat Cejudo, a proper olympian with ease.

Just two examples of better "athletes" than Romero and Jacare being beaten by P4P contenders.

Romero might be the most athletic and explosive p4p, Jacare might be the most athletic grappler, but they are not the best pure athletes.

How many former UFC/Strikeforce/WEC champs has Cejudo beaten? 0. How many has Romero beaten? 4.

It should've been pretty clear from my post that I was including MMA accomplishments in, you know, a discussion about great MMA fighters. You latched on to the 'athlete' part but it's still only marginal and I of course thought of the two guys you mentioned

Romero and Jacare have proven to be great MMA fighters - Cejudo not so much. And Cejudo is not clearly a better athlete than Romero -are we really going to split hairs over Gold/Silver'World Championships - being 2-1 over Cael fucking Sanderson?

And that's one guy, not two, and he is inferior - I'm not sure how this argument holds up at all.

DC was also acknowledged in the original post.

Beating a former champion doesnt mean much these days, almost everyone was a champ of some ilk and everyone of them has been beaten.

I know what you are saying. But his tenure isnt good enough to be P4P Number 1. 2 wins dont make a 1.

Right now, Robert Whitaker would be about 10-12 P4P. If he can start defending the title a few times he will go up. LOL at saying he is number 1 P4P, you don't just leap over guys like Mighty Mouse, DC, Jones like that, Hollaway also should be higher p4p right now.

Let's not put the bar so low LOL

I love the idea of rating fighters based on who they've beat - that's what matters in the end. but sorry for "latching on to the athlete part" but Jacare a top two MMA athlete?? he is one of the stiffest guys when it comes to striking.

Striking and take down defence he's definitely up there.
But fighters like DJ, gsp and Bones are more complete having amazing take downs and submission game on top of this.

as we all know, the real P4P #1 is whoever Dana's trying to promote this week, usually due to being in some petty feud with whoever he was promoting last week...

Take into consideration that Whittaker is a small MW too.

I dont see how beating an Olympic wrestler in MMA holds that much value.
