We do not talk about Blade 3. Okay? Ever.
Blade 3 only exists in the same universe as Spider-Man 3 & The Matrix 3.... i.e. in The Upside Down
Spiderman 3 was a brutal self awareness installment. We had been rooting for a bitchboy the entire time. Toby as Parker crying to subpar Mary Jane was the eye opening moment we needed.

Wes Snipes was absolutely perfect for the role also and thats what sold it imo.

I've sat here for a few minutes thinking if I could picture anybody else in the role, and I really can't.

Hes a perfect lead.

Wikipedia reading makes me believe that the current string of superhero movies is thanks to Blade success

Bladewas also a mix of a more traditional action film as well as darker superhero film with the title character having superpowers as well as carrying an arsenal of weaponry.[10] The success of Blade began Marvel's film success (which debuted in Marvel Comics) and set the stage for further comic book film adaptations.[
I didn't know the movie was Marvel. That's pretty awesome.

Yeah. Exactly. At some point Sam Rami decided Venom was some emo boy bitchboy influencer. Yet in the comics and animated series the symbiotic creature made Peter Parker more viscious and hostile.

Which is why I am hyped for Tom Hardy being Eddie Brock this year, as his performance as Bronson may as well be the greatest performance I’ve ever seen.

Yep. Im pretty sure it was the first movie to have the Marvel studios logo at the start.

To bring thread back on topic, I'm actually sitting in a theater typing this in Seattle about to watch Panther with the fam.
Very diverse crowd. And "The African Americans" seem to be behaving themselves here, so that's good.

Will be excited to hear your input. I'm going to go try to watch it on Monday or Tuesday.

LOL. Yeah my literal family. Came to visit them for a sad reason, and we decided to lighten things up by having a much needed family movie outing.

Blade One is still so ridiculously good.
And Kris Kristofferson was just right for that character.

It was so raw and gritty. I remember being in the theater watching it and that opening Rave scene happens.

I think part 2 is pretty good. I like the premise and Have watched it again.

Blade 3 was so bad with all the CGI.
Kris Kristofferson sounds like a made up name like someone asked him what his name was once and he improvised it on the spot. my name is Kris.........um...Kris.Kristofferson

Pics dude, pics. I once had a girl from Chihuahua, she grabbed one of my shoes by accident. That's how I found out she was married to a drinking buddy of mine. Apparently he flew to Mexico and2married her. Now she's married to a Finnish guy last I heard. Trifling bitches.

So, what's the synopsis?
Wakanda is a country rich in vibranium. T'Challa is king and is the Black Panther, a superhero who is roided out with herbs and uses advanced vibranium based tech. They pretend they're poor with no vibranium and don't get involved in world affairs. He wants to start giving aid and taking in refugees; his best mate says nah, if they get involved in foreign affairs, they should arm their allies and bash people.

25 years ago, his uncle also wanted to bash foreigners and turned traitor. The king at the time (T'Challa's dad) confronted him and ended up killing his own brother. This left a kid an orphan, who grew up angry and trained himself to be a killer.

Grown up kid goes to wakanda, challenges for the throne by combat and smashes T'Challa. He becomes the new King and Black Panther and wants to follow his dad's plans. T'Challa's mate joins his team, partly cos new guy killed the guy that bashed his parents.

T'Challa comes back and they fight again, with a bit of a civil war going on. T'Challa wins this time and bad guy dies. Wakanda then opens up to the world.

There's a bit more going on and loads of cool action scenes but that's the basic premise. Angry cousin is a republican, good king is a democrat. Race didn't really seem a factor to me.

Sounds a bit like Liberia. In retrospect I should have taken power and lead them to galtism.

I just don't understand the big deal about this movie, honestly. We've had great movies with black leads and the actual character was written in the 60's. All of a sudden people are super proud of black heritage because of this movie, yet 6 months ago it's like they didn't even kow the character existed.

There's a current explosion in afrofuturism. This movie comes at a perfect time. It celebrates a black hero for being black, not just incidentally black.

I agree, it's like feminists celebrating Wonder Woman because finally they had a strong female character and it's like... have you been watching movies and TV for the last 50 years? There's been countless strong female leads. Honestly, Black Panther was a GOOD movie, not great, not a masterpiece like it's being sold as. Much like Coogler's last effort, Creed - which I too thought was a bit overrated (good, not great).

I just hate all the identity politics involved. Critics are being pressured into giving it a good review or face a shit-storm and be labelled a racist, which is just sad. It's disrespectful to Ryan Coogler, Boseman, Jordan, etc, who do great work and are more than capable of standing on their own two feet, and don't need people supporting this project because they're black. It's a little condescending.

I know I'm not supposed to post racial stuff but I saw a review where some guy said Black Panther proved that white people ruined Africa and they would have been technologically more advanced if they were left alone, and I'm like bruh it's a comic book movie not a documentary.

He's right tho. It's not like there would be mass genocide and child soldiers if they were just left to it

LMAO. That's pretty bad.

I don't much like going to the theater. I'll wait until it hits cable, so you can look forward to my review in 2019.
