Jon Jones responds to Miesha Tate

Miesha Tate said Tuesday she was “over” Jon Jones and didn’t care about his saga anymore following his doping hearing in front of the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC). On Wednesday, Jones responded with some shade of his own.

The former UFC light heavyweight champion tweeted, likely in reference to Tate’s 2016 retirement, that he doesn’t “quit when things get tough for me.”

Miesha didn't quit, she retired after accomplishing every goal she set for herself in MMA. That's actually the ideal way to exit the sport. Jon is on a different trajectory, and it involves a lot of drama and a certain amount of denial if you want to remain a fan of Jones the fighter.

After she lost to her, maybe, but the ultimate goal was winning the belt (and making some extra scratch in the process). The fact that Miesha did that by choking out the women who flatlined Ronda was possibly the cherry on top. As short-lived as that title reign was, it was still impressive because there was a point in her career when nobody thought she'd ever become a UFC champ, period.

She was done before the nunes fight. You could see it as she walked to the octagon. She had nothing left to fight for and it was visibly apparent. She knew when she was done and got out before she got fucked up.

I’ve never been a big Tate fan but I can definitely respect that she knew when to leave the game.

If I had an ounce of his talent I'd be maximising every opportunity possible knowing that I'd probably be done by my 40s. Instead he just spunked it all away. I'm not in the slightest bit religious anymore but the fact he quotes the bible as some way of explaining his transgressions pisses me off too.

Yup... I'm pretty much bored with the jones situation at this point too. Just let us know what his ASADA suspension is & we'll talk about him when he enters grappling tournaments n stuff.

That said, it's quite a different situation for me to say that on a forum than for Meisha to make a public statement about it. Jones probably couldn't keep it up for her so she's harboring an uncomfortable self esteem thinking it was because of her. Makes her lash out.
