Would McGregor have done that to Frankie?

I guess Conor was just fortunate to not face any wrestlers in a division stacked with wrestlers. The one wrestler he did fight, took the fight on two weeks notice. That wrestler clearly won the first and was on his way to winning the second when he fatigued (credit to Conor for attacking the body with his strikes) and was finished with 3 seconds left in the round. I don't think it's unusual to wonder how Conor would do against someone with a full tank and a Div1 wrestling background. Would that wrestler have held him down and punched him for one more round? Would Conor have retained enough power to KO/TKO in the 3rd/4th/5th round (Conor has never finished a fight beyond the 2nd round)?
The thing people neglect about the Mendes fight is that Conor was training for a guy with an entirely different style (Aldo) until two weeks before the fight.

Yes, Conor was fresher and better-conditioned, but what do you think was his strategy going into that fight:

A) Drill TD defense for two straight weeks and hope it's enough

or

B) Let the wrestler take you down, work on your strikes from guard, and tire the less-conditioned guy out?

But I also think he was protected from legit wrestlers.
Which ones? Frankie? Frankie had the chance to fight Conor at 196 and turned it down.

Who else? He isn't a D1 wrestler, but Khabib? Khabib has never been in contention (bc of injuries/tiramisu) until now.

FWIW, I think Khabib is gonna smash Ferguson, so we should get to see very soon how Conor does against a guy with D1-level wrestling.

@conor mcgregor nut hugger - i would have been happy if he fought Lamas.

And i don't hate on him for using a smart strategy against less-prepared opponent. Please acknowledge that Conor had a conditioning edge in that fight which he would not have enjoyed otherwise, and that conditioning edge was significant in his victory.

Frankie had to be far more careful about the takedown against Ortega, because of that BJJ...but there's now a part of me that wonders if Conor would have landed something like that and put Frankie down.
Might just because I can't stand the paper champ, but I don't think so, Frankie wouldn't have stood long with Conor and would have easily taken him down, for which no way in hell Conor gets back up.

Probably right. Frankie had to play it safe with Ortega, or risk getting submitted. No risk of that from McGregor.

Frankie would have wrestle-fuked Conor....or at least that would have been his game plan. I highly doubt that Conor could have mad the weight though...not in that short of a time period. He should stay @ 155

Yep I don't think Conor would have had the same chances as T City
Frankie's game plan woulda been to wrassle fuck Conor and beat
his head in on the ground from the jump.

He simply couldnt execute that kinda agressive wrassle plan
with T City's jitz

For real?
as real as it gets. I rolled with him a couple times when he was a brown belt.
He's the Man of Million Set-Ups, and his style is fluid and relaxed like Ryron, but 'sticky' like Rener.

Wrestling and cardio would have been a big advantage on Frankie's side.
