Bellator President Scott Coker today confirmed to MMAjunkie the promotion is working on pairing Wanderlei Silva (35-13-1 MMA, 0-1 BMMA) and Quinton Jackson (37-13 MMA, 4-2 BMMA) for a fourth fight.

The matchup was first reported by Brazilian website Gazeta Do Povo, which also reported Silva is working on bringing the event to Arena da Baixada in his home town of Curitiba. Silva also claimed the event would launch him as an event promoter.

Coker said the Viacom-owned promotion has not confirmed the venue or a date for the event. A weight class also has not been confirmed.

Jackson, a former UFC light heavyweight champ, has fought as a heavyweight for his past three bouts, most recently entering the Bellator MMA World Grand Prix. He lost in the eight-man tournament’s quarterfinals, falling short to career middleweight Chael Sonnen (30-15-1 MMA, 2-1 BMMA) at Bellator 192.

Jackson has said he suffers from a thyroid condition that makes the cut to light heavyweight too difficult. He’s also complained about being paired with wrestlers who hold him down rather than fight. A fight with Silva certainly would satisfy the ex-champ’s demand.

Silva returned from an extended layoff this past June – courtesy of a failed drug test and fight with the Nevada State Athletic Commission and the UFC – and was smothered by Sonnen over three rounds on pay-per-view at Bellator NYC at Madison Square Garden.

Silva and Jackson have faced off three times under two different promoters. Silva won the first two in a pair of classic bouts in the now-defunct PRIDE, and Jackson won the third in the UFC.

Under Coker’s management, Bellator has increasingly established itself as an international brand. But a trip to Brazil would be the promotion’s first.

Silva only wants the fight if it's in his home town. UFC196 was held there so it's not too much of a leap.

Would be great for this to happen in Brazil

oh for fucks sake. wasn't wand saying he had like 13 of the 17 signs of pugilistic dementia a while back? maybe it was just an in-joke that he had with his wife. if scott coker doesn't demand a cat scan he should be sent to prison immediately

I'm not sure what the story is with Rampage's so-called thyroid condition, but not being able to cut to 205 and coming in over 250 in his fight with Chael are two different issues. Why hasn't Tiki (his manager) been able to motivate Quinton to get himself in better shape than what we saw in last two fights? If I was Coker, I would've had a sit down with Rampage, since he could be one of the keys in bringing viewers back to the promotion. Quinton is the dude that, when he's in shape, can match up against almost every big name fighter, over 185 pounds, on Bellator's roster. That said, one or two more appearances like what we saw his last time out and I don't think fans will be going out of their way to tune in period, regardless of the match-ups.

Awesome but IMO Bellator should wait and have a double bill with Wandy/Rampage and Fedor/Crocop 2

I'd rather see Douglas Lima or Patricio Pitbull headlining this, but as long as they're on the card somewhere I can live with this being the main event.

I'd rather watch dada fight the again than this.. tired of watching ppl "fight" that are over the hill and refuse to acknowledge it.. it's 2018 not 2003 this shit has to stop. Put all these stud wrestlers in the main card instead of prelims regardless of the number of fights they've got. I wanna see fighters evolve before my eyes not 2 legends that haven't looked good in years.

At this point this is a horrible fight for Wandy. Both are washed up, but Rampage still has his chin, I can see a boring fight then after 4 minutes Rampage ko's Wandy with a jab or something.

These guys need to walk away, look at their last fights, against Chael, fucking horrendous absymal performances, I felt bad for them watching it.

His PRIDE days were before my time although I caught the reruns. The first I really knew about Wand was when he fought Chuck.
I've never really been a fan but I was a bit of a fan of Rampage.

I was a huge Rampage fan in the Pride days. And all though Wandy did fight some large heavyweights back in the Pride days...he's no longer that spring chicken after all those wars.

Not only is he no longer a sping chicken, he already was no longer a spring chicken coming into the ufc, then it got worse in the Rampage ko', even worse in the Leben ko, and then in the remaining fights, more damage and already was not looking like Wandy from Pride.

All that plus the years of Chute Box full onslaught training. Just been so many years that he should have retired. Dang

And then he literally runs out of the gym when the drug police want to test him.

Soccer kicks and PRIDE doping were his thing. As soon as that went away he didn't really have anything.

I saw Chuck beat him and then I saw him beat Jardine. I used to like Jardine. That was the last UFC I went to in the US, everyone I wanted to win on that card lost apart from Rich Clementi.

The best thing about Jardine is his coffee.

Exactly!!!

It's a fair fight but I just don't want to see it.

I was so happy when i heard that Anderson failed another test because even though he's my favorite fighter ever because i don't want to see legends fighting like shells of what they once were.

Coker likes to put on hybrid events (mma/kickboxing, etc.) so why not go all-out and set up the long-awaited rematch of Carl Lewis and Ben Johnson in the 100? Maybe a little Bob Cousy vs. Jerry West 1-on-1? The possibilities are endless...
