Just don't arm them because they are teachers. If we have cops running the other way, what do you think a teacher will do? I'd have to trust someone's discipline around their fire arm around my kid? Fuck no. This responsibility should not be placed by the teachers.

But yes, reversed psychology well done :)

More than once a teacher has shielded children with their bodies. People hold police officers to some high standard when the truth is most of them are pussies.

Yup, and shielding is not the same as firing a gun, having the discipline, the instinct, etc. They may mean well and in a panick shoot one of the children. If it was that simple, we could have teachers become cops, and vice/versa. It's simply the stupidest thing they can think of. Again, looking for easy answers while ignoring the core of the problem.

Why can’t teachers become cops? It isn’t some elite force. Any 21 year old with a clean record and reading comprehension can take the tests, interview, and be given a badge and a sidearm their first day on the job. Some don’t even go to the academy for months and instead do “FTO” training.

Cops are not special by any means. You can get the same, if not better, training on your own. Not giving a teacher willing to train in firearm tactics and safety the chance to carry is absurd. You have a shooter walking around shooting fish in a barrel because they literally have nothing to worry about. Usually they shoot themselves when cops arrive.

So on top of being a teacher, you now have to do more training than a cop receives? How much do these teachers make again? And they're to portect our kids on top of that? We better start paying them double, if that is what we ask of them. Usually a teacher becomes a teacher because they have passion towards education, not to be in life and death situations, and on top of that, making life and death decisions.

Are teachers then also liable for the kid's safety? Is there going to be a framework of expectations? Or do we just hope? If an armed guard/cop goes out hiding, you can't expect much more from teachers. Everybody is a hero until the bullets start flying.

Yea you’re right. Keep the schools a soft target and ask nicely for no one to shoot them up anymore.

So pay the teachers more it is? Maybe a little tax hike should do it.

What happened to armed guards? Is that not a better solution? Also, it's going to cost someone.

Guns are not for everyone, and especially around children, you can't just start firing your gun, knowing your bullet may stray, or do more harm than good. I think we've come to a point that, if you want guns in this society, you're gonna have to accept there will be casualties. And sometimes, unfortunately, those will be kids. Or just ban guns all together?

Bringing a gun in the class room is the wrong way out imo. Anyone could just grab the teachers gun and start shooting as well. Do they now also need martial arts background JUST to teach children? And agin, no one is willing to pay for this. Just throw guns at the probelm is not going to do it because we are treating a symptom here.

And good point by the way. Anyone can be a cop. But not anyone can be a good cop, and we need those more than ever. It's a much harder job than some may give credit for. I could not do it, and I know how to handle a fire-arm.

Good grief that's scary.
